A: The Auray Shockmount for Rode Podcast Mics and Mics with M20 Thread is not compatible for use with the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone or the Blue Yeti X. The shockmount can only be used with microphones that have an M20 thread on the bottom. Neither the MV7 or Yeti X have any threading. The MV7 has its own built-in yoke mount and is not intended for use with a separate shockmount, and the Yeti X can be used with the Blue Radius III Shockmount (B&H # BLRADIUS3). For good examples of mics that have the M20 threading and do fit in the Auray Shockmount, take a look at the Rode Podcaster USB Broadcast Microphone (B&H # ROPODCASTER) and the Rode Procaster Broadcast-Quality Dynamic Microphone (B&H # ROPROCASTER).

If you're a musician or shoot music, this is handy to have in your kit. It's common to have extra mic stands around, and adjustable / boom stands can position a camera in unique locations. Of course be careful because many mic stands aren't designed for heavy cameras; I use this for a Panasonic Vixia camcorder while my SLRs are on propper tripods. 5

Well designed. The ball grips very well and will easily hold an Atomos Ninja Flame at an angle. Having the screw to attach to the device independent from the threads to attach to the stand is a great advantage when setting up very expensive gear. 5

I purchased the adapter to allow me to mount a webcam on a microphone boom at my workstation. The unit works perfectly for this application. I subsequently had a need to mount a (significantly heavier) 18 ring light on top of a microphone stand, and while initially wary, I was pleased to find that the adapter held the ring light firmly in place, while allowing me to adjust its position. A simple, but useful and powerful tool. 5

I use this adapter to hold a small digital recorder with built-in mikes (a Tascam DR-05) in front of the soundhole of my acoustic guitar. It sits nicely at the end of a boom on a lightweight mike stand, and can be easily moved to a new position if I want to change the sound a bit. The controls of the DR-05 can be easily manipulated with this mounting method. This adapter makes the recording and playback processes easier, and that helps me in my quest for cleaner playing. 5
