I've always been a Canon user and I still have battery grips for old models such as the Canon 20D and Canon 5D original. Having recently upgraded to the 5D Mark III I needed to purchase the battery grip for long days of shooting - I love the improvements Canon has made. I have no complaints and recommend if you're looking for longer battery life or a different way to hold your camera body. 5

Pretty useful if you shoot a lot of portraits, somewhat pricey but haven't had any problems with it every since I got it, nice feel and texture to it and overall pretty useful for studio work 5

I use battery grips for my 5D/MII and 7D so I was impressed with this new redesign for my new 5DsR. The side entry for the batteries allows for a wider base and better grip feel in the vertical position. I was thrilled to see a multi controller added to the grip so I can access focus points more easily. I've had trouble with previous grips unscrewing and opening power contacts, but so far this feels rock solid and tight. My main use for the grip is for landscape photography. Shooting with 50 Megs means using a tripod 90% of the time. I'm happy to report that the grip gives me a solid mount even on the sticks. I also need the extra battery power and backup while on extended hikes. 5

This new battery grip has a new design which I am very pleased with. The batteries are inserted in-line with the grip instead of perpendicular. The release hasp is functional and the overall feel is just great! 5

This is the best grip on the market, obviously because it's made by canon. Other third party grips aren't accurate with battery percentages and can be unreliable, this one is worth the extra money. 5

This grip is fantastic. The build quality and construction is #1. If you feel like buying a 3rd party grip you will definitely sacrifice in a tight fit and comfort. Just get the Canon brand, you wont be sorry. I keep this grip on my camera at all times and I have not been disappointed in its performance. I have experienced faulty grips from Canon and other manufacturers before on my older Canon DSLRs but this is a huge step up from what I remember. This is a quality grip that does not make any compromises. 5

Holds 2 batteries, so you have longer shooting time. Equally important is that it helps balance the camera in your hand when using a front-heavy lens. It's a real plus. 5
