The Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x NA0.5 Supermicro APO for Sony E from Venus Optics is a microphotography lens system that can be directly used on cameras without the need to use microscope adapters. It features four seamlessly interchangeable magnification tubes, offering 10x, 20x, 35x, and 50x magnification options. The adjustable numerical aperture (NA) of this microscope lens ranges from 0.5 to 0.1, the high NA providing room for exceptional brightness and minimal diffraction. The lens is designed with a fixed 0.79" long working distance, ensuring both flexibility and convenience for the lighting setup, and you can easily change magnification without having to reset focus and lighting for stable microscopic shooting setups.

The apochromatic lens design minimizes chromatic aberrations in all magnification ratio for outstanding resolution. The eight grades of Numerical Aperture (NA) values from 0.5 to 0.15 indicated on the objective lens addresses the depth of field for microscopic shooting. The wide NA provided combined with ample lighting ensures that when capturing images, a lower ISO value can be used, resulting in a higher resolution image. The Laowa Aurogon is suitable for use in both still and video applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can anyone confirm if this lens will work with Focus Peaking? (in my case, specifically with Nikon) I'm assuming yes but I'd like to confirm. Thanks!

A: Yes, any lens without electronic contacts or simply set to manual mode will allow Nikon Z-mount cameras to displayed peaking when this option is turned on in the custom setting menu.

Q: 2. Is it possible to make it work on MFT with some adapter? I just wanted to buy 25mm 0.95, but FF is a better investment.

A: No, there are no adapters to connect Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF Lens for Sony E-Mount to a micro 4/3 camera mount.

Q: 3. What’s the size of the image circle?

A: The Venus Optics 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens (Canon EF) is designed to cover full frame 36x24mm sensors

Q: 4. I saw a review of a pre-production version of this lens. On that one the flange was milled for 6-bit coding. Is that the case with this one?

A: According to Venus Labs, they state that the Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL Lens for Leica M is 6-bit coded for metadata usage on Leica camera. They also state that they coded the lens based on the Leica system. There is no customized Laowa coding. As a result, you should memorize the amended name of the lens designation.

Q: 5. Does this have hard focus stops?

A: The focus is smooth but it does have Selectable Clicked / De-Clicked Aperture. Photographers might prefer the clicked aperture ring while de-clicked would be better for video.
