My new walkaround u4/3 EPL-1 is first choice now when taking off for the day to do sight-seeing and so on. Light weight and less obtrusive than it's big brother, but includes all the E-series features I am used to. Having added the MMF-2 adapter and VF-2 viewfinder, I can use my current 4/3 and many other lenses as well.

Small enough to have with you, but still capable of superb image quality. The dedicated movie button is actually handy.

I've only used P&S cameras. I was looking for a camera that could take better pictures, but I could carry around without much fuss. So I was carefully looking at the micro 4/3 products, and this was the first that was a relatively cheap to try out the system, and I like the aesthetic of the EP range.

I love this camera! Its my first digital interchangable lens camera that I have owned. I bought it because I wanted to upgrade from my point and shoot, and didnt want to have a huge camera like a nikon or canon. This one fits the bill. I love it. I wouldn't reccomend it if you're going into business or something, but if you're a family guy who is looking for a serious upgrade from point and shoot, then this one just might fit the bill.

Wow, after putting my OM-1 on the shelf and switching to digital I went with the handy point and shoot type cameras. It was now time for a new camera and I felt I wanted to get back to some flexibility and quality. When I started looking I went directly to the Digitial SLR's. I was surprised at how big they were compared to my old OM-1. Then I found the EPL Pen Series by Olympus. I was not too excited that the 1 and 2 had no flash (another thing to carry) and then I saw the EPL-1.....perfect. I have had it for about 3 weeks and have had plenty of opportunity to play with it and its features. I have found more features than I had expected, even with all the research I had done. Even read some suggestion of slightly tilting the flash up for a bounce effect and it was excellent advise. I miss through the lens viewing, however with that said, now that I know I have a great camera that will take me many miles, I know what my first upgrade will be....then the 17mm pancake lens. Jeff

The Olympus E-PL1 is awesome and performs above my expectations. It has been capturing some amazing photos! I fell in love with this camera on the first day. I'm even using it in my role as a photojournalist.

I bought this camera as a replacement for a point and shoot. Wanted something small for international travel and easy to learn, but with quality photos. It is just as simple to use as my previous P&S, but the photo results are amazing.

Easy to use for novices but SLR quality photos.

I've owned several slr's from way back and several dslr's in the past decade. With current dslr's seemingly in a contest to see who can build the biggest and heaviest monster camera, I looked to go the other direction, and found the Oly E-PL1 to be a delightful answer to it all. The E-PL1 gives you the best of most worlds; it's small and lightweight. It fits perfectly in most people's hands. It provides interchangeable lens capability, dslr control of your photography, as well as has one of the best auto modes on any camera. The photos it takes at ISO 1600 are literally amazing in quality for a camera that costs just above the best P&S cameras, which can't compare in performance. You can mount a professional flash on its hotshoe if you like, but the onboard flash does quite well for most flash applications. And for those who need a viewfinder, the available hi-def EVF is incredibly sharp and detailed. The PL1's on the fly manual control of aperture and shuter speed is a delightful improvement too. I highly recommend the PL1 to anyone looking to upgrade from a point & shoot camera or anyone who wants an excellent grab n go camera as a respectable companion to their dslr.

I have multiple Olympus bodies and lenses. My wife gave me the e-pl1 as an anniversary gift. This is now the camera I take when I don't want to take a camera. I was taking the e-510 or e-520 and the 18-180 lens. Now I am taking the PEN. The picture quality is terrific, it is light and somewhat less visible. I am expecting to buy the 14-150 lens as soon as I can.
