The black, redesigned MT190XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto builds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO3's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.5" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.

One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.

The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.

The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.

Each leg has user selection of four angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.

The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much does the tripod and head weigh?

A: From the user's manuals:Legs: 5.5 lbHead: 2.2 lbB&H webpage states 7.7 lb for both, so that's accurate.

Q: 2. How does this differ from B&H # MA190XPRO4Q5 (B&H Kit), apart from the price difference?

A: The MT190XPRO4 has a higher load capacity, and the MK190XPRO has a much shorter minimum height.

Q: 3. Can this tripod be folded up and fit into the carrier bag without removing the handles?

A: It comes with a standard Manfrotto tripod bag, and it fits in the bag fully assembled. If it doesnt have this accessory, I suggest you might be looking at a 3rd party tripod, or vendor built bundle.Hope this helps.

Q: 4. Hello! I am wondering how well would this head (as compared to a fluid video head) would work for occasional video taking of surfers? Quick moving subject under a lot of light. Thanks

A: If you're using a regular pan tilt head for video instead of a fluid head, then the smoothness of the footage will depend entirely on how well you can move the arms on your own. Starts/stops will be jerky. It probably won't be the best footage possible but it will do the job in a pinch.

Q: 5. Can you hang a backpack on this for added stability? If not which tripod does have that feature that is cheap, sturdy, tall, and can go really low?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Does this come with a bag for storage?

A: The Manfrotto MK190XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head, would not include a bag.

Q: 7. is the 28.4 inch folded height with the pan tilt head attached? And can the pan tilt head be detached? I've got a bag I use for carry ons that is a couple inches shorter.

A: The Manfrotto MK190XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head has a folded length of 28.4" with the head attached. One can detach the head. Without the head this has a folded length of 23.2".

Q: 8. Has anyone used "Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head" for stitched panoramic 360?images? If so, does it enable proper stitching?

A: You could certainly use this tripod/head for pano's but there are much better heads out there specifically for shooting 360. You can purchase legs separate, then buy the head. Click on the link below to view pano heads; https://bhpho.to/37YDkZM

Q: 9. I intent to use a Canon HF G20 and leave it in a fixed position to record billiard/pool stuff. Is there any reason the head will not be suitable. Or should I get a different cheaper Head?

A: I've been very satisfied with this unit. Absolutely no issues with stability. My equipment is Nikon, good luck!

Q: 10. MT055xpro3-3w pan and tilt....Does it come with a bag ?

A: The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W does not come with a bag. This would be the recommended bag for this tripod: https://bhpho.to/2eDBT6d

Both arrived intact even though the tripod outer box was damaged. B&H's excellent packaging meant the tripod was ok. The tripod functions fine. The 410 Junior Gear Head is excellent. I was expecting sometime of cushioning inside the gear head box but there was only a plastic bag to keep dust out.

If I'm moving quickly, I want the lightest possible tripod, that is, carbon fiber. If I just need a solid tripod, like for a big lens on a gimbal, this aluminum one is just great. Exactly what's needed, at a good price.
Something to think about - the center column seems rigid enough. No wiggle detected while shooting. HOWEVER, not as dead-solid as mounting the gimbal right on the tripod-top. Any way for a longer barrel to slide inside, so the center column is locked at above and below spots? 2 clamp-points along the length will make it solid.

This tripod replaces my first Manfrotto Tripod I Got in 1982. I like how I can pick it up and the legs stay apart and i can set it down with just one hand. Easy to open up and make taller. I would like the centre post longer , i think you can get an extension and i will be looking for one. I have always used the camera on the right side of the tripod for vertical shots so with the gear head I have to mount the camera backwards. Its works good that way. I find the gear head more solid and no movement. i like it allot. I shoot School photos and i like how a little run of the nob is all i need to centre the children and when you have 600 a day to do, this is a good head to have on the tripod.

This tripod is sturdy and can extend to around 170 cm, which is the most of all the tripods I found. I was specifically looking for a tripod that was that high. The head is great, too.

Solid, stable tripod for studio and location work. The center column is strong and durable, despite what some other reviewers have to say. I suggest reading the instructions before use to avoid unnecessary breakage of this well-constructed tripod.

After looking at travel tripods and reviews of them, I decided to stick with a standard slightly larger aluminum tripod. I have used Manfrotto in the past but this is a very nice upgrade to a traditional model. I particularly like the ability to raise and rotate the center column into a horizontal position. I also like the two rubber coverings on two of the legs to protect from the cold. I wish the third leg also had the same rubber covering. There is an old saying about tripods, there are two types of tripods ones that are easy to carry, and good ones. This falls into the latter category. While it is not light it is substantial and can support my 4 x 5 field camera and Hasselblad without any problem. I married this with the 3-way tilt pan head. I like the retractable handles on the three-way head. I thought they would be a little too short but they work quite nicely.

I’ve had the carbon fiber version of this for 5 years. I recently bought a telescope and wanted a sturdy tripod but didn’t want to constantly use the CF one. Fit and function is great on this. I like that two of the legs have a rubber grip on the upper legs. Definitely a quality tripod.
