A: Yes, you may. Just plug in earpieces into each unit. They both have built-in microphones. I have been using this device to hear others at a distance but can also be used to communicate back and forth without relying on other equipment. Be sure to use quality batteries; when used for listening, the battery power is used twice as fast as just using the microphone alone.

A: any mic that does not require power, or has its own power source. I have added a rode shotgun mic with its own battery and it worked real well. I have a radio shack lav with internal battery and that works will too. I also have a lav that is dynamic and that works too.

Q: 10. I have a Sony HDR-FX7 camcorder, should this mic be compatible? I can not seem to get it to work

A: I looked up the specs for your camera on Amazon, and found this: There is no way to connect an external audio source. The only audio option is the on-board mic....which is not bad, but not something you'd want to use for most productions...especially live streaming. I suppose it would be possible to crack open the handle near the mic, disconnect the on-board mic and rig up some kind of direct connection, but I've never tried it. It's a great camera...lots of options for people like me who live in the SD/HD world. But, when it comes to recording quality audio for video productions, I have to use a separate mic and audio recorder and then sync it up with the video in post. Not fun, but it works!
