Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i connect 2 mics to 1 transmitter?

A: No.

Q: 2. Hi, I have a Sony HDR-PJ760 camcorder. Is this mic ECM-AW4 compatible with my camcorder? Thank You.

A: Yes, I use the ECM-AW4 with my Sony HDR-CX760 and it works great. Just use the mic input on the side of the camera.

Q: 3. Is the receiver output mic level or line level?

A: The Sony ECM-AW4 Bluetooth Wireless Microphone System would have line level output.

Q: 4. Can I use 2 sets of Sony ECM AW4 concurrently in a 2 persons interview?

A: Yes, the mic sets seem to come with their own BT built in pairing codes. No seeing required. I have used 2 sets of these mics in close proximity, (interview style) and they stay on their own separate channel.

Q: 5. so does this product work with iPad or iPhone 6? If so will I need an adaptor or am I ok with the plug that comes with the receiver?

A: You might need and adapter.

Q: 6. could this system potentially be used as a 2-way communication tool? vs actually plugging the receiver into a camera. I would think so.. but is there something that would prevent this type of use ?

A: Yes, you may. Just plug in earpieces into each unit. They both have built-in microphones. I have been using this device to hear others at a distance but can also be used to communicate back and forth without relying on other equipment. Be sure to use quality batteries; when used for listening, the battery power is used twice as fast as just using the microphone alone.

Q: 7. If I wanted to use 4 units with a multi channel recorder can I do that? do they have multiple channels?

A: We would not advise using 4 sets of these in one location.

Q: 8. This unit features USB recording? Does it come with Sony’s software that enable this just like their discontinued model PS-HX500 ? I noted that this same model that is being sold in South East Asia market does not have a USB port.

A: Yes. The USB output allows you to connect it to your computer for conversion/recording. Software is not included. Sony states: You can use any music recording software (not included). You can also use freeware, such as Audacity®. Download Audacity from the following URL. http://www.audacityteam.org/ Sony does not offer support for this software. • The USB output signals can be used only for recording, not for playback

Q: 9. What kind of external mic will work for this product? I tried to plug in 2 different external lavelier mics and they did not work.

A: any mic that does not require power, or has its own power source. I have added a rode shotgun mic with its own battery and it worked real well. I have a radio shack lav with internal battery and that works will too. I also have a lav that is dynamic and that works too.

Q: 10. I have a Sony HDR-FX7 camcorder, should this mic be compatible? I can not seem to get it to work

A: I looked up the specs for your camera on Amazon, and found this: There is no way to connect an external audio source. The only audio option is the on-board mic....which is not bad, but not something you'd want to use for most productions...especially live streaming. I suppose it would be possible to crack open the handle near the mic, disconnect the on-board mic and rig up some kind of direct connection, but I've never tried it. It's a great camera...lots of options for people like me who live in the SD/HD world. But, when it comes to recording quality audio for video productions, I have to use a separate mic and audio recorder and then sync it up with the video in post. Not fun, but it works! So, there you go. No external audio possibility on your camera. Sorry for the bad news, but hope this helps. Stephen
