The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is a three-section support that replaces the 055XPROB tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%, and its load capacity by 4.4 lb over its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the center colum tilt?

A: No it does not

Q: 2. Is the MHXPRO-BHQ2 magnesium ball head a good choice to go with either MT055CXPRO3 or MT055CXPRO4?

A: Yes, this would be a fine setup. Rated load capacities are 19.8 lbs (tripod) and 22 lbs (head). 3/8 stud mount is compatible.

Q: 3. Is BHP an authorized dealer of Manfrotto? I'd like to make sure the manufacturer's warranty will be in tact if I purchase. Thanks.

A: B&H Photo is indeed an authorized Manfrotto dealer.

Q: 4. I bought this in 2008. I now need to service it after being at a Black Sand Beach in Iceland. Any advice?

A: You may wish to reach out to Manfrotto directly for further assistance by calling 1-201-818-9500.

Q: 5. Is there a gimble head that would also work with this tripod? Looking to use with a D500 + Sigma 150-600C.

A: The Oben GH-50 Gimbal Head is compatible with the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod. This is a Good head for the Sigma 150-600mm lens and the Nikon D500. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/2MExMsJ

Q: 6. Is the MK190XPRO4-BHQ2 compatible with the Peak Design base plate? Thanks..

A: If you get the dual plate it will be compatible. You can click on the link to view; https://bhpho.to/36HaSK9

Q: 7. Does this come with a carry bag?

A: No it does not

Q: 8. What is the weight of this tripod combo vs. the aluminum version which is listed at 7.7 pounds? Thanks!

A: While not a big issue, the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod actually has a weight of 4.41 lbs. The Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is correctly 2.2 lbs. The kit has a combined weight of 6.61 lbs. The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is 5.51 lbs, so the aluminum version with the MHXPRO-3W would be 7.71 lbs. The carbon fiber kit would be 1.1 lbs lighter than its aluminum version.

Q: 9. If it doesn't come included, can this tripod accept an adjustment bowl adapter which allows you to level the camera independently of the tripod legs quickly? Manfrotto even has their own.

A: You will need to use a 3/8"-16 leveling base such as the Manfrotto 438 (https://bhpho.to/3GGankY). The Manfrotto 190XPRO4 does not accept the Manfrotto 555 leveling center column, nor can it use 75mm/100mm half-ball leveling adapters/bowls.

Q: 10. Can the Desmond DAL-1 bracket be used with this tripod?

A: No, the Desmond DAL-1 QR L Plate is an Arca Swiss style plate and the head on the Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod with XPRO Ball Head uses a Manfrotto proprietary plate, 200PL.

I have owned this unit for about 2 weeks now and I am very happy with it. The Tripod and head are solidly built. Even though the tripod is carbon, it is not what I would call light weight. When my camera with 50mm lens is attached, it he held still for long duration shots. I have used it for 6 minute exposures so far but have not tested in the wind. I am confident that it will be usable in at least mild wind as it does seem to lock the unit in place. The ball head is very smooth when panning or adjusting. It is also a solid part that you can tell is high quality. I am happy with the combined unit for my immediate needs.

I owned a Manfrotto 55XBPro but it was just too short. Loving this taller version, the attached level, and the versatile center column.

Very pleased with the tripod and head kit. Took it on vacation to Cade's Cove GSMNP right after I got it and it performed as I had hoped.

I now have two Manfrotto Tripods, my first one is a 290 Befree that I use for travel...
I wanted a heavy duty Carbon Fiber Tripod and the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 was my first and only choice... This Tripod is rock solid. B&H Photo had the best price, and it was delivered on time and in perfect condition.

This replaces a Manfrotto carbon-fiber tripod that I owned and used heavily for the past three years. These tripods are workhorses. I like the new design of the leg extension tubes and find that the lighter weight of the tripod does not come t the expense of stability. I use this with a fairly heavy medium format digital camera and Manfrotto ball head, and do a lot of long exposure work. The results so far have been excellent.
