The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is a three-section support that replaces the 055XPROB tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%, and its load capacity by 4.4 lb over its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello! I am wondering how well would this head (as compared to a fluid video head) would work for occasional video taking of surfers? Quick moving subject under a lot of light. Thanks

A: If you're using a regular pan tilt head for video instead of a fluid head, then the smoothness of the footage will depend entirely on how well you can move the arms on your own. Starts/stops will be jerky. It probably won't be the best footage possible but it will do the job in a pinch.

Q: 2. MT055xpro3-3w pan and tilt....Does it come with a bag ?

A: The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W does not come with a bag. This would be the recommended bag for this tripod: https://bhpho.to/2eDBT6d

Q: 3. What is the difference between this unit and the other Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod with MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head Kit, besides the price? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1060591-REG/manfrotto_mt055xpro3_aluminum_tripod_stand_alone.html

A: The difference in the kit is how they are packed. With B&H # MAK055XPRO33, this comes in a single box. With B&H # MAMT055XP3K6, there is a separate box for the legs and one for the head. Otherwise, they have the same specifications.

Q: 4. Is there a carbon fiber version of this tripod? If so, what are the specs...and the price?

A: The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 would be the carbon fiber version of the MT055XPRO3. At the time of this posting, the kit with the MHXPRO-3W head would be $588.95. You can find the specs for the tripod, on its page on our site.

Q: 5. Hi-Does this kit include quick release plate that attaches to camera base or must that be purchased separately. Please let me know. Thanks!

A: The Manfrotto MK190XPRO4-3W comes with an included 200PL Quick Release Plate.

Q: 6. What are the differences between this and the 190XPRO4?

A: The 055XPRO3 is a sturdier tripod. I needed a relatively inexpensive tripod for a 300 2.8 and the 190XPRO4 was too light and allowed for too much vibration. The 055 is still on the light side for the lens, but gets the job done without spending a lot more on a sturdier tripod

Q: 7. Has anyone used "Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head" for stitched panoramic 360?images? If so, does it enable proper stitching?

A: You could certainly use this tripod/head for pano's but there are much better heads out there specifically for shooting 360. You can purchase legs separate, then buy the head. Click on the link below to view pano heads; https://bhpho.to/37YDkZM

Q: 8. Anyone who has this tripod and head (MK190XPRO3-3W), can you recommend a decent quality tripod carry case (preferably a padded one) that this will fit into? It would need to be at least 6 deep, 6 wide and at least 29 long. There is one Manfrotto tripod bag (MBAG 75PN) that people say is a bit too small for this tripod; and the other Manfrotto bags are way too expensive for my budget. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A: I would recommend the Ruggard Deluxe Padded 35 Tripod case.It has two internal straps to hold the tripod from moving. Also, if you plan on using a heaver camera or lens with this Tripod, please look into getting the Manfrotto 200PLARCH-14 Architectural Anti-Twist Quick Release Plate with 1/4-20 Screw to eliminate Camera Creep/Slipage when using the Tripod in Vertical/Portrate mode.

Q: 9. Can this tripod be folded up and fit into the carrier bag without removing the handles?

A: It comes with a standard Manfrotto tripod bag, and it fits in the bag fully assembled. If it doesnt have this accessory, I suggest you might be looking at a 3rd party tripod, or vendor built bundle.Hope this helps.

Q: 10. How smooth and control we have over panning and tilting for a videographer?

A: Hi. I feel this tripod is starting to get into the video side. Still focused more on the photography side. Hope helps

I'm very happy with the tripod. I'm using it to support hunting equipment. It is very sturdy and light. B&H shipped it fast. I will order from them again. Thanks.

This combo greatly exceeded my expectations. Tripod is a well built, light weight traveler. Boom arm is ultimate macro shooters friend. Ball head is so efficient.

I purchased this tripod during the holiday season at a great discount from B&H to replace a cheaper tripod. I wanted a tripod that I could mount a separately purchased head on. This is so much better than my old tripod. The only issue is that it is somewhat heavier than my old tripod but it’s fine for my occasional use. It’s tall enough to not require the use of the center column which I love. It seems very sturdy and well made. I would definitely recommend as long as you’re not looking for light weight.

Not sure how I managed to go so long without one of these. I would say a geared head is a must for any serious real estate photographer. I hesitated for a while on buying one because I thought it would slow me down, but I find the mechanism to adjust very easy to use, with only a slight learning curve. After a few jobs you'll be moving just as fast as any other head.

Very easy to use, exceptionally solid and not too heavy considering how stable it is.

Affordable and nearly indestructible. Over $100 cheaper than carbon fiber version and only 1/2 pound heavier. Able to handle my 200-500 mm Nikkor mounted on an acratech gp ballhead.

I have had this for about four weeks and I very happy so far. I have a lighter tripod for walking, but this my go to for real estate, Architecture, or anything else requiring long exposure,
