The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 3-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO3 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Colleagues, how to find that arm, which is in the photo tripod?

A: Hey, I think you are referring to the center arm. Which you can loosen, extend out the top and rotate 90 inside the red top plate and tighten back down. When you loosen and pull all the way up....at the bottom of the center arm there is a spring loaded ball catch you just need to press to get it to extend out far enough to rotate. I've found it to be a great feature in getting super low angles and straight down macro long exposures / time laps

Q: 2. what is the minimum height for the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod with MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head kit ?

A: If working closer to the ground, the minimum working height of this tripod with the MHXPRO-3W is 8.6 .

Q: 3. is this tripod compatible with a Really Right stuff BH55 ball head?

A: Yes.

Q: 4. I am 5'9 - Will this Tripod be too high when attached with a reasonably tall head, battery grip and 7D camera? (adds 10 inches to the viewfinder.) I was thinking of getting the MT190CXPRO3 because its the same with a slightly smaller height. Thoughts?

A: If you're talking about all legs being fully extended, yes, it will be too tall for you with this configuration. Leaving the thinnest (bottom) legs fully retracted and raising the column up a little bit will give you plenty of freedom, unless you want to avoid doing that.I love this tripod, and would recommend it to people of any height, personally.

Q: 5. Does the head have levels in it?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Could I use MVH500A head with this tripod ?

A: No, you would need the MVH500AH

Q: 7. What's the difference between the xpro and 054 magnesium ball head?

A: If you are referring to the XPRO ball head vs the 054 head, then the 054 had an extra feature which allowed you to go beyond 90 degrees to 100 degrees when using the camera in portrait mode. Other than that, they are very similar in size and design. The newer XPRO removed that feature based on feedback from the user base.

Q: 8. Does it come with a carrying case

A: No it does not come with a carrying case

Q: 9. I may purchase this tripod for use with my spotting scope(birdwatching). I am mildly concerned that I could accidentally move center column to horizontal position while using the scope. Is this a legitimate concern ?

A: Yes the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod can be used for birding with a spotting scope. You cannot accidentally move it horizontally. You would need a head with this tripod. I would recommend a fluid head such as this: https://bhpho.to/2TYAm0x

Q: 10. Does this come with a Manfrotto carrying bag ?

A: It didn't, at least when I bought it.

I am very pleased with this piece of equipment. I use it primary for video but happy that I can turn it into a photography tripod easily. The tripod is very sturdy and I love the fact that I will be using it for a long time.

I do macro photography and love the center going horizonal. Sturdy tripod for the price but a little heavy all in all a great tripod

I just made an actualisation from my old 055 tripod because of the column system and it works perfect, super fast without loosing the stiffness.

After I received this unit I realized that I already had a 055XPROB and was ready to return it for credit. Not so fast! The 055XPRO3 is a greatly improved unit and does not even compare with it's new features and design. The channeled legs, locks and overall sturdiness are worth it.

Value and durability are why I purchase Manfrotto Tripods. This Tripod is very sturdy and build to last. This is the first Tripod I have purchased in 15 years (yes, the previous are two Manfrotto Tripods, and still used). This Tripod addresses and improves the leg adjustable clamps, provides extended rubber grip areas on two legs. The versatile center post extends my macro photography possibilities. Fully extended, this Tripod is rock solid when using a 400MM and DSLR with vertical grip. Recommend for serious Photographers (Pro or Armature) who invest in quality and durability for the long haul.

I love that i can make this extremely low to the ground or open up all the legs and raise the middle support. The legs get released with ease and the tripod provides solid support. I mount my kessler travel jib and 3' slider on this and it works great. I would recommend getting the manfrotto 438 to make the leveling a lot easier. Affordable tripod that gives the best bang for your buck.

I often get looked at funny on set because I pull this little guy out to use for b roll footage, but it's been my trusty slider tripod for a few years. I recently bought another so that I could have two to travel with when I have to fly and can't bring my larger a-cam tripod. They are small enough that I can fit two in one tripod bag and save money on luggage fees.

Only complaint with these over the years is that the legs can get loose over time, but they are easily adjustable to get them back to where they need to go.

I got these legs as my first set of tripod legs. I used them on the 4th of july for some fireworks shots. They held my canon 6d and 24-105 nicely. They are very sturdy and the height of them with out the column extended is perfect for me being 6' 2. I don't think the weight of them is all that bad either.

Super sturdy , a little Heavy , but hey it's aluminium & that's no bad thing right ? Leg locks very secure . The whole thing feels Quality , plenty high enough without the centre column raised , only used it for the 4th July fireworks on Brooklyn Bridge with my EOS 60D and a 24-105 at the moment Would benefit from a better hook on the bottom of the centre column ( to hang a weight from ) rather than the one on the side of the head mount , shame it doesn't come with a tripod bag a come with a tripod bag I got a Ruggard bag from B&H , always worth going to the store and Great prices
