The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 3-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO3 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Q: 1. Can I put a Gitzo GH2720QR head on the MT055CXPRO3?

A: There's a 3/8 thread stock atop the tripod. I don't know about the Gitzmo but my Oben works fine.

A: Although there isn't a tutorial on this topic, Manfrotto suggests that 3 turns on the screw that secures the leg locks with the provided tool would suffice.

Q: 4. How stable is it with a video fluid head when panned left/right. Some very light tripods have had a tendency to lift up on one of the legs as I panned with a dampened head?

A: Not the best choice but workable . The more resistance you dial into the fluid head the worse it gets. I've resorted to using my left hand to press down on the legs as I panned with my right. In this situation heavier is better. you could add weight to the legs. Three Matthews Boa bags, one on each leg, would improve the performance noticeably.

Hello I want to purchase Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod with MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head Deluxe Kit by looking at the tripod pictures I found that the extender use is a Manfrotto 244 Variable Friction Magic Arm, can I have the infos on the piece requiered to atach the flash and model of the flash boncer (all the piece from the 244 to complete the flash kit including bouncer)? A: We have had the MT version for about a year and really like it. Since we do not have the earlier version we can't comment on the relative advantage. The fit & finish is outstanding and the leg clamps are a joy. Richard

A: Choosing the 3 you will have less legs to extend and collapse which can be annoying as it is. Also less legs allow for a more sturdy tripos as appears to the 4. Between the 2 there is not much difference in fully extended height and collapsible height. I would go for the 3. If anything I would be questioning th need for carbon fibre. If you need a real sturdy tripos go non carbon fibre, the more weight the better for longer exposures!

Q: 10. Can this tripod also be converted as a monopod?

A: Not really. With some effort, the middle post can be removed, but it really is not designed for it. Also, the center post is too short to be effectively used as a monopod, and there is no foot on it. The center post is designed to be used horizontally, and it works well for that.

I bought this Tripod to replace a very old Aluminium Manfrotto 055 which is still usable except the replacement clamps are not exactly the same as the original. This Tripod is half a kilo lighter and has features which I required. 5

I love this tripod, very strong and solid. Can support heavy telephoto lens and camera up to 19 lb! I tried before MT199CXPRO4 but the last section legs are so small and I didn't feel like can support very good heavy telephoto lenses. The MT055CXPRO3 3 section legs are really solid like a rock and lightweight at the same time. I will recommended this tripod to every nature photographers, specially if you like to walk a lot into a woods and need lightweight and strong legs. 5

I use this tripod for indoor home photos (Real Estate). Easy to level,easy to adjust,light weight. East to adjust from portrait to landscape... Center height adjustment is great for these indoor shots 5

It looks great and I like the height of it. I'm 5'11'' and its great for a guy my size as I don't need to crouch down when this is fully extended. It's relatively light and very sturdy. 5

I have had this tripod for about a month and a half. I mostly use it for wildlife photography with a Canon 7D and Canon EF400 f5.6 L. The Sunpack tripod I had used previously was too flimsy for this combination and when the head broke off, I decided to follow the advice that professional wildlife photographers give, to not go cheap on your tripod. This tripod compared to my previous one is like bolting my camera to a block of granite instead of a blob of jello. It is a little heavier than I would have liked, but for the rigidity it provides, it is lightweight to equivalent alternatives. A great buy. 5
