Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This is one SSD recommended by BMD for Ursa G2 Broadcast. What other accessories do I need to use it with that camera?

A: If you want to use the SanDisk Professional 2TB PRO-BLADE SSD Mag as media for the Blackmagic Design URSA Broadcast G2 Camera you will need the SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT (BH #SAPBT), which will work as a USB-C adapter for the SSD.

Q: 2. Is SanDisk working with any camera manufacturer to use their PRO-BLADE SSD?

A: Currently SanDisk has not spoken of a specific camera manufacture.

Q: 3. Can the 4TB Blade handle sufficient read/write speeds to edit 4K/Multi-cam edits?

A: Yes, the SanDisk Professional 4TB PRO-BLADE SSD Mag can handle 4K multicamera editing. Keep in mind you will need to use it in either the SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT, B&H # SAPBT, or the SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE STATION, B&H # SAPBST, in order to connect it to a computer.

Q: 4. Will the Station run cooler and quieter if I connect to USB3.2 Gen2 or Gen1? I need quietest for audio, not fastest for video.

A: Using the SanDisk Professional Professional PRO-BLADE STATION with a USB 3.2 connection should not impact heat or self-noise.

Q: 5. Is this in any way water resistant? Or just a fancy enclosure without many benefits?

A: No, the SanDisk Professional 2TB PRO-BLADE SSD MAG is not water resistant.

Q: 6. I see that the main HDD can connect via Thunderbolt 3 but is the blade connected via Thunderbolt 3 also?

A: The SanDisk Professional 4TB PRO-BLADE SSD Mag can only be connected to a host computer via the SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT (B&H # SAPBT) or the SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE STATION (B&H # SAPBST). The former doesn't provide a Thunderbolt 3 connection but the PRO-BLADE STATION does.

Q: 7. Can these Pro Blades be set up in a Raid array?

A: This PRO-BLADE SSD is designed for use with the SanDisk PRO-BLADE TRANSPORT (BH #SAPBT2TB) and will not be compatible with standard RAID arrays.

Q: 8. Can the Pro Blade be adapted to insert into the Pro Dock 4?

A: The SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE SSD Mag can not be adapted to work with the SanDisk Professional PRO-DOCK 4 (BH #SAPD14F0000N).

Q: 9. Will this be compatible with the new Pro Dock?

A: This SanDisk Professional 1TB PRO-BLADE SSD MAG is compatible with the SanDisk PRO-BLADE Station and Transport.

Q: 10. I assume that since this mounts each blade as a single drive (rather than as RAID might), this is fully compatible with Apple M1 chips? Is that a correct assumption?

A: Yes, that is correct. Each SanDisk Professional 4TB PRO-BLADE SSD MAG will function as a separate unit. Even if you purchased the multi bay unit, the array will work as JBOD for maximum swapability.
