Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Hello if I use this lens with lenses with a lens diameter of 40mm, will I have a problem?
A: This can be used with lenses that have a front element that is physically no larger than 50mm in diameter. At 40mm you are within the diameter parameters. How focal length and lens threading size still needs to be taken in to account.
Q: 2. how would this work on a ursa mini 4.6k? what is the widest lens i could use?
A: The 2x squeeze is very wide. If the ursa mini 4.6 shoots at 16:9, you might prefer the 1.33x, which gives 2.35:1 cinemascope. The 2x with 4:3 format gives 2.66:1, which has to be cropped if you want CS.The minimum focal length depends on a lot of factors (including how close you get the lens to the adapter). Trial and error with different taking lenses is required. In general, do not expect to go too much below say 30 - 40 mm.
Q: 3. I use Canon 5D MARk IV, buying SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 1.33x with Rangefinder, which lens should i need to buy for screwing it on them?I mean which lens is best tips with SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 1.33x with Rangefinder?
A: The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Lens should work well. It has a 58mm filter thread and is not that large of a lens.https://bhpho.to/2aTfcfk
Q: 4. can i stack a diopter on the rangefinder to achieve even closer focus?
A: We are not aware of that being possible with this product.
Q: 5. the ursa mini pro and ursamini 4.6k now has 3K 4:3 anamorphic mode, with that being said this 2x anamorphot should work with it correct?
A: Yes, it should work if paired with an appropriate focal length as stated by SLR Magic.
Q: 6. I have GH4 and Panasonic F1.7 25mm, which accepts 46mm filters. Is it possible to use my own step-up ring to use SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 1.33x?
A: Dear Evgeniy,You need a 2x stretch when you use 4:3 sensors. 1,33 is meant for 16:9 sensors. Youll probably see some vignetting when youre using a 25mm lens on a gh4. You can only use lenses which have a smaller front thread than the connection of the SLR Magic, so it should work!
Q: 7. As i know SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 2.0x works better with 4:3 or APS-C Sensors. Here's my question to you, it will work if i will shoot 4K with my 5D Mark IV, which has crop factor 1.74x ?
A: It will not. the Anamorphot-50 is designed to work with cameras that have a 4:3 Anamorphic Mode. The 5D Mark IV does not have such a mode. You would need to look at the Anamorphot-50 1.33x instead.https://bhpho.to/2o7c4UO
Q: 8. I'm buying a FS7mkII, will this adapter work for a super35 sensor or will I have to get a 2x stretch?
A: I'm currently using it on the FS7 and FS5 which have the same sensor and the coverage is perfect. It's an excellent effect for the price.
Q: 9. What is the shortest focal lens I can use without vignetting please ? I was thinking about using my old Kiev 37mm f:2 but I'm not sure anything bellow 50mm would suit... Any help much appreciated.
A: That will depend on the sensor on your camera. If you are using a camera that is APS-C or MFT you can use lenses between 35-100mm in focal length. While with a Full Frame Sensor it will need to be between 70-100mm.
Q: 10. Would this work well with the Sigma 45mm f2.8 E-mount lens if I put a step up ring on it?
A: "SLR Magic recommends that the Anamorphot-50 1.33x be used with lenses that have a front element that is physically no larger than 50mm in diameter." This is all well and good however, no lens manufacturer ever lists that dimension. So it is a matter of guesswork as to the efficacy of the SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 1.33x on the Sigma 45mm f/2.8 DG DN. I am of the opinion that it might work. However, testing is the only way to make sure. At B&H, we like the customer to make the final decision. At B&H, you have a 30 day return period for most items, including this one.
