All things having been considered in respects to the RF versions I opted to get this instead. I can always use in-camera body features to minor reported issues (e.g. purple fringing). Of course post work is an option too. On the EOS-R body this lens is a rock hard performer. Images are more than adequately sharp (even hand held with IS enabled). I basically saved myself half the money over the RF equals. Although RF lenses will ultimately take over, it will be several years before that happens-so this lens is still one of the best ever. The lens is pretty heavy but I certainly don’t mind lol ❤️ 5
