Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can i use this with Intrepid Enlargers ?

A: The Repro Kid Copy Stand has not been tested with Intrepid Enlargers. The result may vary.

Q: 2. How is the camera height adjusted? I see a knob on the rear of the arm, does the column have a geared system (turning the knob makes fine adjustments), or is it held in place by tension (turning the knob loosens and tightens the clamp)?

A: The center column has a tension control knob that allows a end-user to lower or rise the unit.

Q: 3. will this unit be compatible to use the Kaiser Camera Stand Light Protector (BH #KAELPR1)?

A: Yes, the Kaiser Camera Stand Light Protector, BH #KAELPR1 is compatible with this copy stand.

Q: 4. Does the mounting arm allow for pitch and yaw adjustments (in other words tilt side to side and tilt forward and backward)?

A: Unfortunately, the mounting arm of Kaiser RS1 lacks pitch and yaw adjustments.

Q: 5. Can the camera be mounted in two different ways ... meaning 1.) with the VIEWFINDER towards the column and 2.) the other way, with the TRIPOD HOLE (of the camera) towards the column?

A: No.

Q: 6. What is the usable scan area with the upright and RB 5070 DX2 lighting unit attached? I.e., is it slightly less than 20x24"?

A: The RB5070 DX2 Lighting Units would attach to the corners of the baseboard on this copy stand. That being said, the baseboard would give you a usable surface area closer to 20 x 24".

Q: 7. Pleas does this work with Kowa Anamorphic 16-H??

A: It does not. This only works with SLR Magic Anamorphot adapters.

Q: 8. My Jan 2 question was not answered satisfactorily. I want to know if the camera can be adjusted when mounted on the post such that the sensor is parallel to lens board and negative. A level mounted to camera doesn't help if camera cannot be adjusted. Can camera position be adjusted?

A: You can use a Ball Head to adjust the camera angles like Oben BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head B&H # OBBA117 + a Bushing BH #OB1039

Q: 9. Does this fit the attachment block of a Kaiser RS-1 copy stand, replacing the standard column that comes with it?

A: This Calibrated Counterbalanced Column for Copy Stands fits the Kaiser R1 system.

Q: 10. How far out from the column can the camera be (horizontally) extended?

A: It can be extended from 6.5-10".

This is a sturdy, well built device that does the job. The initial set-up took less than 5 minutes. The one feature that I really like is the way the horizontal arm can be extended with the camera. This is really vital.

I'm using the Kaiser RS 2 with a Canon 5D III, RRS quick release plate, and Canon's 100mm IS macro lens to digitalize my 10,000 prints. I use two desk lamps, low heat bulbs, and plain white paper (as diffusers ) for lighting. This is working really well. The stand is solid with the arm fully extended, the carrier has no play, no creep. I'm able to get up to a 5 x 7 print in the frame with the 29 post, that's full frame- no crop factor. I've done over 6,000 prints so far, the work flow is amazingly quick, product is better than the original prints. No cons, easy five stars.

I am glad that I bought this stand instead of other cheaper ones. It is of a high build quality and is strong enough to support an older DSLR camera with heavy lens and no issues. The adjustments are fine and smooth. I would highly recommend this piece.

I am using this stand with a Nikon D800E with a macro lens to copy slides from a light table. The stand is perfectly plumb and square. The camera mount holds the camera and lens without flexing and the mount does not slide out of position.

I wanted a copy stand that was sturdy, well designed, and would hold a DSLR camera. This stand capably supports my new DSLR with a large macro lens and accepts a standard quick release mount that I use with my camera. The tall rail allows for greater flexibility in selecting focal distances for different subjects. The sturdy and smooth winding mechanism make this copy stand a joy to use. If you need a copy stand I highly recommend this Kaiser RS2.
