The MTP 840 DM Dynamic Supercardioid Performance Microphone by Lewitt Audio is for capturing audio in various environments, including applications such as live sound, studio recording, lead vocals, background vocals, conference rooms, lecture halls, boardrooms and more. It features a switchable sensitivity, a multi-step high-pass filter, supercardioid pickup pattern and a frequency response of 40 Hz to 18 kHz. This makes for a unique tool for onstage and in the studio.

The MTP 840 DM's high-pass filter directly influences proximity effect, allowing adaption of the mic to an individual's requirement. The built-in three-position switchable amplifier allows lossless recording of far off sources. Built-in LEDs that can be turned off make checking this mic's numerous settings a simple matter, even in the dark.

This microphone is powered by 48V phantom power. It has an integrated acoustic pop and windshield built-in for protection without compromising high-frequency clarity. It is also built with a solid full metal die-cast body for rough daily touring. It features a corrosion-resistant gold-plated 3-pin XLR output connector. A shock mount and carrying pouch are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this require batteries?

A: No

Q: 2. how does this compare to SM58?

A: Similar but different, depending upon the experience and vocal technique of the talent. A better choice where feedback is an issue. Same tough build quality!

Q: 3. Does this mount directly to the drum or does it require a mic stand for use?

A: A drum mount is included.

Q: 4. I already own the e945 it,s a beauty but i need to get some pop socks can somone please assist me?.....

A: Click the accessories buttonJImC

Q: 5. Could this microphone work with a Behringer U-Phoria UM2 audio interface, and if so would it have issues with it being too quiet?

A: The V7 will work well with the UM2. There is gain control on the UM2, so no, it will not be too low.

Q: 6. will this work with the ProFX12v2 sound board?

A: This can connect to the ProFX12v2 mixer via an XLR cable.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with the Shure blx wireless?

A: Because the Shure BLX-2 transmitter features an integrated capsule design (non-removable), the Telefunken M80 wireless dynamic microphone capsule is not compatible.

Q: 8. Compare Shure sm57

A: The Polsen DM-USX1 can function as an XLR connection handheld microphone or a USB microphone connected directly to a computer. The Shure SM57 is an XLR connection microphone only.

Q: 9. Is the grill removable for cleaning ?

A: No it is not. But you can get a sanitizing product called Goby Labs Sanitizer Spray for Microphones. This is the B&H part number B&H # GOGLS104B.

Q: 10. will this mesh with Sure SM58 Wireless?

A: This capsule will work with all the Shure wireless transmitter handheld microphones, just make sure the capsule on your microphone can be removed in order to add the Telefunken M80 capsule in it's place.

Have only used it on a high gain guitar cab so far, but my first impression is that it does a great job capturing the amp tone, but sounds smoother than a 57 without sounding dull. I have it paired with a Royer 101 and after about 2 minutes of mic placement, it sounds killer. Overall, just seems to do what a 57 does, but with less harshness. Sometimes you may want that harshness though so, of course, you should have both. :)

I have a whole box full of nady mic's they all treat me well. I use a 18 bass drum 99% of the time in the studio and my D6 is just to chubby sounding with it I was using an old sm57 which suddenly conked out. Got this one a whim as I have several nady 460's and like them a lot. I leave this kit mic'd up most of the time so need quite a few mic's In my tool box. Am very pleased sounds better than the sm57 in this app. Has a good slap and enough bottom without having to eq some out. Just add a gate and I have a great bass drum sound.

We are a 3 piece band with a lot of big vocal harmonies. When we first plugged in our Lewitt mics we were very impressed with their quality, and the full range of sound that they produce. They are quiet, clear, and very responsive. A noticable improvement to the mics we were using before (the ones most bands use). If you want an absolutely great quality performing mic, you can't beat a Lewitt!!! Jared, Justin, and Jordan from More Like Me

Replaced the older AKG D190's on my rack toms with these Lewitts and really noticed the difference when it came to mixing the drums. Great frequency response helps with little EQ adjustments.

I have sung all over the world on many different microphones, and have found only 2 brands of microphones that I love. Lewitt is one of them. The sound is crystal clear, and it picks up all my dynamics. Highly recommended.
