A: I am not familiar with the two flash units mentioned. I was looking for something not too expensive. It has worked fine for me and yes, you can manually vary the flash intensity. What I like most is that the horizontal flash angle varies with the focal length of the lens when used with a zoom. I am using it on a D 3200.

A: The highest sync speed will depend on the camera being used. Most cameras sync up to 1/250th of a second, which the RS-D728 can do without a problem. At full power, the flash duration is 1/700th of a second.
