The MV-4200 3G/HD/SD/Analog/HDMI/DVI/RGBHV Mixed High Resolution Multiviewer from For.A comes with eight 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and four 3G/HD-SDI and four HDMI outputs.

The modular design of this 2RU multiviewer allows you to expand the total inputs to up to 68 analog or 8 analog and 24 DVI inputs by adding separately available input cards. The MV-4200SDI card has twenty 3G/HD/SD-SDI analog composite inputs and up to 3 of these can be added to the MV-4200. With three MV-4200HDMI cards installed (each with eight DVI inputs), you get a total of 4 3G/HD/SD-SDI and 24 DVI inputs. HDMI sources can be connected via separately sold DVI-to-HDMI adapters.

In addition, the MV-4200IF Interface Card (available separately) can be added for GPIO, serial control, and input of analog audio, AES audio, and genlock. The MV-4200 Multiviewer offers a customizable window layout, audio level meters, and AFD-compatible cropping functionality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used as an HDMI distribution amplifier (with a clean output signal) using an SDI input?

A: The DECIMATOR DMON-4S 4 x SD/HD/3G-SDI to HDMI Converter with Quad Multi-Viewer Function can feed any SDI input to all 4 HDMI inputs.

Q: 2. I want to convert SDI signal from my NTSC camera to an SDI Signal in PAL (for both audio and video) Will this converter do that?

A: I'm afraid not. The Decimator 2s SDI loop output will repeat whatever signal is going into the SDI input, so while the HDMI signal would be converted to PAL the SDI loop-out would remain NTSC. To do a conversion and come out in a different format through SDI, you could use the MD-HX, MD-Cross or MD-DUCC. All of these will take NTSC SDI in and output PAL SDI with embedded audio.

Q: 3. Will the '16:9 to 16:9 anamorphic' analog setting output a SD signal with no pillar or letterboxing added to a 16:9 source?

A: When using the DECIMATOR 2 3G/HD/SD-SDI to HDMI Converter with Built-In NTSC/PAL Downscaler & Analog Audio Outputs, you can configure the Decimator 2 to output analogue SD signals as a 16x9 anamorphic signal as well as options for letterboxed and straight 4:3.

Q: 4. Is it possible to use the loop out and multi view at the same time? My setup is that I will have 2 SDI inputs from my PTZOptics cams, loop those out to my BMD Mini Recorders, but I want to be able to monitor both of those feeds on the same screen. I'm also wondering what the output resolution of this device is? Is it dependent on the inputs? Right now I'm having an issue where my PTZOptics cams have to be set to 1080p30 as that's the max my BMD Mini Recorders will support. The cams can output HDMI and SDI simultaneously, so I thought I'd just plug the HDMI feed into one of my monitors, but my monitors apparently don't support 1080p30, they throw an error asking for 60Hz. Any feedback / suggestions is appreciated.

A: Hi Taylor, This is Jules from Product Support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. You can configure a DMON-4S to receive SDI on inputs 1 & 3 then use the ports for inputs 2 & 4 as loop outputs of inputs 1 & 3 respectively. Inputs 1 & 3 are still available to use in the multi-viewer, although obviously you then only have two inputs available for up to four windows, depending on how many windows you wish to show on screen. The four HDMI outputs can be individually controlled so each output can be configured to either be the output of the multi-viewer or a loop output of any of the SDI inputs. If you need a hand configuring it when it arrives please feel free to contact us at support@symbiosis.com. I hope this helps. Kind regards Jules

Q: 5. HOw the audio works in multiview?

A: In Quad-Split mode for the Decimator DMON-4S, audio can be selected from any source to play as for the audio for other sources.

Q: 6. Can labels be added to the multiview?

A: Yes, The DMON-4S supports placing a custom label or UMD (under monitor display) on the layout for each window. Using a custom layout on the DMON-4S will allow you position these wherever you like in the multi view. The custom layouts and text for the labels are set up using the free of charge USB Control Panel software.

Q: 7. Could I use this product for a video wall of three monitors? I would like to be able to display a 1x3 video on these monitors at 1080P resolution for each monitor.

A: Dear Kelly, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. The MD-Quad has four 3G-SDI inputs, one 3G-SDI output and one HDMI output. Both outputs carry the same picture at the same format. You wouldn't be able to drive three monitors with different tiles of your source to produce a video wall. The MD-Quad effectively works the other way round to take up to four inputs and put them onto one monitor. I hope this helps but if you have any questions please feel free to contact us on support@symbiosis.com. Kind Regards Jules

Q: 8. What is the resolution of the HDMI output? My goal is to feed 4 1080p SDI inputs into one 4K HDMI output.

A: The DECIMATOR MD-QUAD 3G/HD/SD-SDI Quad Split Multi-Viewer with SD/HD/3G-SDI & HDMI Outputs Version 3 can only output a max resolution of 1080p via the HDMI output. The Blackmagic Design MultiView 4, BH #BLMV4, would allow for 4 1080p SDI inputs to output via HDMI in 4K.

Q: 9. how to upgrade its firmwere? actually we are facing white flashes at its quad output.plz help us in this regard.

A: Please contact SWIT directly for technical support: SWIT: Tel: (866) 986-7948 or (408) 260-8258 Email info@swit.us

Q: 10. Will this unit support the downconversion of an HDMI signal from a laptop to composite video? I want to use it to send an HDMI signal from a Mac laptop to a Presidential-type teleprompter system.

A: Sorry, while Decimators are great products, this one is not right for your application. Use this one, (as long as the signal is HD) Atlona HDMI/DVI to Composite and S-Video Down-Converter B&H # ATHD530 .

We use these units on AV productions and they work great. Solid and dependable. I use the software to program them. I feel it is faster and you see more then the window on the units

We used this to run from an Atomos monitor (which was connected to Sony FS7) and then to a HD projector for a live show and tell at a conference. Worked fine. Do note that the cable is DIRECTIONAL (that is, there is a source side and output side).

Unbelievably good product. Can be used in so many different ways, not just as a multi-viewer, although it excels at that too. Very very cool. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, is that there isn't a GUI for creating new custom layouts. It's not difficult to create them, but you have to type in numbers. Just inconvenient. Oh yeah, and not very good documentation for the computer control software.

I first got the BMD Multiviewer 4 and it did the job but the picture edges were being obscured by the LCD bezel. Then I got this little wonder! This would let me reduce the incoming picture area so that I can see the full picture from all cameras. Then I can reroute the inputs, rename the windows, change colors of border, text, background and so much more! Unbelievable set of customization pages for the same price as the BMD. Use your computer to customize. I can resize the picture in 1% increments. Takes a while to calculate the numbers that will utilize the maximum area of my monitor but once done it is a pleasure to use this. See picture of my settings for an Acer 22 LCD.

Just remember, when hooking it up, its a ONE-WAY cable.
Its big and bulky - but what else would you expect for 100ft of HDMI cable!

The cable seems to be high quality. We mostly use this cable for connecting a laptop to the big screen for movies etc., so do a lot of plugging and unplugging. One thing I noticed about this HDMI cable of over other cables we have had, is that the end plugs into the computer really smooth and easy, then stays attached securely. With other cables, we have had to fight to get the jack to line up so it would go in. I would buy again, and recommend to others.
