Q: 1. Would this cord connect my canon 7d to my 580ex11 with full metering capabilities. I have a waterhousing for my 7d and a separate one for my flash and the off camera shoe cord does not fit inside my cameras body housing as there is not enough room on the top. So basically I need a cord that will connect the two that is small (possibly connects to side of camera body) and still retains all the metering controls ect. Does such a cord exist?

A: Unfortunately, no, there is not a cable that exists for your stated needs. PC cables do not offer any metering capabilities; they are strictly designed to syncronize the flash with your shutter. When using a PC cable (on any brand camera), you have to set the flash output power manually. If you need a cable that will transfer metering information, you would need a hot shoe TTL off-shoe cable for your needs, such as the Canon OC-E3 Off-Shoe Cable or the Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Canon EOS which we have listed on our website. However, you state you already own a TTL cable, but it does not fit in your housing for your needs. As you are using underwater gear, the manfuacturer may manufacture an option for your needs, but as you have not listed the housing that you own, I would recommend contacting our Underwater Department at uw@bhphotovideo.com and give them the brand/model of your housings to inquire if there is an option that would work for your desired needs.

Q: 2. Is this cable bi-lingual? It is for hooking up a Presonus 24.4.2 to an older Mac, so this is essential

A: Yes, the StarTech 6' IEEE-1394 FireWire Cable is a bilingual cable.

Q: 3. Can you attach the Westcott 240 and this wire to a Nikon D90 or D7000.?

A: Im not 100% (I shoot Canon) but this is a a standard pc cord. I would be shocked. But check your camera. If it has a pc connection you will be good.

Q: 4. I am requiring adapters for my Panasonic DVC Pro HD P2 mini-dvd camera to my 21.5 inch iMac which has lightening ports. My Wirefire cable is marked 1394 (which should be a 400. I've purchased a Thunderbolt 2 adapter what more do you reccomend to make the connection?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot recommend daisy chaining through multiple adapters and generations of cabling. We are unable to guarantee it would work.

Q: 5. Can this be used to connect thunderbolt 3 devices to a thunderbolt 2 computer?

A: No, it only flows in one direction from TB2 device into TB3 port

Q: 6. Can this be used to connect an HP ZBook with Thunderbolt 3 to a Sony Beta J-30SDI player? There would be 3 adapters: Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 (9 pin), then Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 (6-pin).

A: I haven't connected a PC to a Sony VTR since the BVU models were prevalent, however I have used the TBT3 to attach 1394a & b audio interfaces to a Thinkpad P70 instead of ZBook G3. The FW inferfaces are Apple-centric with the LSI(Agere) chip, one being the Apple TB-FW inline adapter and the other is in an OWC Thunberbolt 2 dock. I've run them one at a time off of the TBT3 as well as daisy-chaining the Apple adapter to the OWC. The daisy chain setup successfully records simultaneously from an RME FF800 and FF802.

Q: 7. Will this work nissin 360tw on a mamiya 545

A: No this will not fit this is an old flash this type cable is no longer made.

Q: 8. Does this cable work with the Canon 1dx mark iii for tethering applications?

A: Yes, this would be the right cable if your computer has USB-A ports. Otherwise if it has USB-C ports than you would use https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1387549-REG/tether_tools_btkc15_org_starter_tethering_kit_with.html

Q: 9. Will this enable my WD My Passport Pro Thunderbolt Ext Drive work with my new 2015 Macbook?

A: Yes, it will.

Q: 10. can i use it to connect my antalope orion+ (thunderbolt) to usb c port on my asus motherboard?

A: This would fully depend on the Asus Motherboard. Note that not all USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 3. If yours does, this StarTech Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt Adapter will be compatible.
