Q: 1. Will this work for an Iphone 4 and above?

A: Yes, the StarTech MUYHSMFF 3.5mm 4-Position to Dual 3-Position Headset Splitter Male / Female Adapter works fine with iPhones.

Q: 2. If this adapter most likely will NOT work on PCs and Chromebooks because of the switching for the Apple products (CTIA standard), does B&H carry one that does work on PC's and Chromebooks with OMTP standard? Trying to get my old headsets to work on these devices. I can plug in 1 plug at a time, mic or headphone jack, but that makes me do a lot of switching. THANKS for your assistance!

A: This adaptor was specifically purchased to connect Turtle Beach gaming headset to a Dell (Windows 8) PC laptop. I did not realize when we bought the Dell that they had gone to the single integrated plug. The adaptor has worked flawlessly since then - kids play some MMO thing on line.

Q: 3. Would this work to connect a shotgun mic to an android smartphone, and at the same time monitor it with headphones?

A: The StarTech Headset Adapter will turn a 3.5mm audio output port into two distinct ports – one 3.5mm headphone jack and one 3.5mm microphone port, so if your shotgun mic and your headphones have a 3.5 mm input this will work fine.

Q: 4. is it compatible with an Android device, especially a Motorola cell phone?

A: The MUYHSMFF is used to connect a headset that uses a separate headphone and microphone 3.5mm 3-position connection. Furthermore, the MUYHSMFF requires that the host utilizes a 3.5 mm Mini-Jack (4 position) as per CTIA standard. As long as the connecting devices utilizes these connections, the MUYHSMFF will work. Atha, StarTech.com Support

Q: 5. will this work with with a blue yeti mic

A: Yes, this is compatible with the Blue Yeti microphone.

Q: 6. I have Mac with Thunderbolt 3 need to connect to thunderbolt2 Harddisk. is this compatible?

A: I bought two of this Startech adapter. Both are attached to a PC with dual Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports. One adapter is connected to Thunderbolt 2 device, and the other to a Thunderbolt 1 device. Both devices are recognized by Windows through the Thunderbolt interface and I/O works fine in both directions. No issues whatsoever.

Q: 7. Can I use this adapter to connect my Dell Precision laptop with Thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 Black Magic Ultra studio express capture card with no issues? I will be testing this, just wondering if anyone knows the answer.

A: I ordered the StarTech thunderbolt adapter to connect my Motu 1248 audio interface (which uses thunderbolt 2) to my Dell XPS thunderbolt 3 port. This device has worked flawlessly ever since I purchased it. The Motu 1248 is a very advanced and complicated interface, so my thinking is if it works for the Motu, it should work for just about everything.

Q: 8. Will this work with Toshiba KIRA laptop or a Samsung Chromebook XE303C12? I bought some adapters similar to this (should have come to you first!) and they work on my iPad but not on these devices. Maybe something to do with the 3 lines and how they are setup? THANKS! LOVE your site!

A: I bought it to use with the headphone that has built in microphone but it did not work with my laptop Lenovo ThinkPad. I returned it.

Q: 9. I am requiring adapters for my Panasonic DVC Pro HD P2 mini-dvd camera to my 21.5 inch iMac which has lightening ports. My Wirefire cable is marked 1394 (which should be a 400. I've purchased a Thunderbolt 2 adapter what more do you reccomend to make the connection?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot recommend daisy chaining through multiple adapters and generations of cabling. We are unable to guarantee it would work.

Q: 10. Can this be used to connect an HP ZBook with Thunderbolt 3 to a Sony Beta J-30SDI player? There would be 3 adapters: Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 (9 pin), then Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 (6-pin).

A: I haven't connected a PC to a Sony VTR since the BVU models were prevalent, however I have used the TBT3 to attach 1394a & b audio interfaces to a Thinkpad P70 instead of ZBook G3. The FW inferfaces are Apple-centric with the LSI(Agere) chip, one being the Apple TB-FW inline adapter and the other is in an OWC Thunberbolt 2 dock. I've run them one at a time off of the TBT3 as well as daisy-chaining the Apple adapter to the OWC. The daisy chain setup successfully records simultaneously from an RME FF800 and FF802.
