The Microphone for Acoustic Bass from AMT is a tailpiece-mounted microphone and preamplifier system for contrabass. The system allows the player to adjust the microphone, or move it from one instrument to another quickly and easily. The microphone's position is adjustable by way of a 9" gooseneck.

The Inline preamp is unobtrusive with diminutive dimensions, and requires phantom power. This preamp features a four-pin locking connector, XLR output, dB cut, and low trim filter.

The system includes the Inline preamp, adjustable tail piece mount, XLR output, quick release mount, a 10' cable from the microphone to the preamp (it is equipped with AMT's Disconnecting Cable Technology to allow the microphone to be used wirelessly) and a hard case.

Q: 4. Will this mount onto a cold shoe adapter?

A: This mount is designed to work specifically with a Wooden Camera Universal Offset Bracket. It has a set screw built in to the bottom, so I would not suggest this model. A good shock mount for a cold shoe is the Auray DUSM-1 Universal Shock Mount for Camera Shoes and Boompoles, B&H # AUDUSM1.

Q: 8. I see the box is phantom powered, but how does it pass 48v to condenser mics? If so, can 48v be turned off for use with dynamic mics?

A: This unit is made to power the Sennheiser MAS-1 button pecifically, to bring power to it and make it programmable for On, On/Off, PTT, and PTM modes. The phantom power from the mixer would go to the connected condenser microphone in the chain and if you are using a dynamic microphone it will not be affected by the condenser power in the line.
