Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a layer of foam inside this softie? And if so, what kind of foam is in there?

A: For this wind cover there is no foam inside it. The SWJ8-21-10 version has a foam insert inside the wind cover (10" length and 21mm diameter).

Q: 2. Please let me know Digital Bolex will seat on it?

A: The Digital Bolex does have a 1/4 -20 thread underneath it that will allow it to be connected to this Rod Support System. However this system is designed for Mini DV Camcorders, it may not be a great match for a Digital Bolex. I would suggest the Aptaris Universal LWS Baseplate or the Revo SR-1500 Dual Grip Shoulder Rig instead.

Q: 3. Recommended weight to support?

A: There is no weight rating available from the manufacturer for the Kupo Sidearm with Baby Pin/Receiver. The strenght of the stand, the exact placement of the offset arm on the riser, as well as counterbalancing the offset load will all ultimately determine how much weight the offset arm can support.

Q: 4. Will this lens work on the Z6 (with adapter)?

A: Yes.

Q: 5. Can the aperture be set with the camera like the other Nikon tilt-shift lenses?

A: Yes, it can, just use A mode on the camera.

Q: 6. What pipe sizes will fit the adjustable clamp?

A: That clamp is specifically for the riser on a C Stand.

Q: 7. No hood available from Nikon, is one not needed? How bad is glare and reduced contrast when key light is in front/side of camera? Note front glass bulbs out. Nano coating can only do so much, no? Any success in using flags in lieu of a hood? Or is lack of a hood not a concern with this lens?

A: There is a good reason why there are no hoods for very wide lenses; to wit, a hood that actually protects the lens from flare is also visible in the frame. My rule of thumb to make sure no light is flaring or causing ghosts on my lens is this: From moderately wide to tele lens length, I use lens hoods, or matte boxes or adjustable sunshades on the camera to block the spurious light. However, on very wide lenses, the flare has to be flagged at the light source that is causing the problem. Even outside and it is the sun hitting the lens, use a grip flag on a stand to stop the direct light of the sun. Do not have such equipment? Then have a friend hold any rectangular object so the the flare from the sun is blocked. How to know it is working? Make sure the shadow of the flag covers the front element of the lens. Nikkor lenses are among the finest in the world. The lens coatings on this lens are no less than that. You can be sure that for all but the most direct specular light rays, light hitting this lens will be flare and ghost free.

Q: 8. will this securely support xtreme fisheye for hpx170?

A: Yes, I use it to support the xtreme fisheye on my hvx

Q: 9. Can you attach the system to a tripod or jib?

A: Yes you can

Q: 10. What are the limitations of the lens using the D750?

A: The limitations with the D750 would be that some combinations of shift and rotation may not be available due to the lens contacting the camera body.
