Shure Ulx-d 2-person Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone Kit With Sm87a Capsules (h50: 534 To 598 Mhz)
- Product Code: ga175054
-
Part of the ULX-D wireless series, the Shure ULXD4D houses 2 independent digital receivers in a rugged, single-rack unit with an internal power supply. Two Ethernet ports support Dante digital audio, while RF cascade ports allow for antenna signal distribution to another receiver unit. Audio summing enables the receiver to function as a 2-channel mixer.
The ULX-D Series simplifies the set up and management of large numbers of wireless systems. It is ideal for professional sound reinforcement applications in large live venues and houses of worship as well as A/V installations in conference, educational, and corporate facilities. Compatible with a wide selection of Shure transmitters and mic capsules, it delivers pristine 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio, capturing every detail with clarity, accurate low end, and crisp transient response.
The ULX-D operates in the UHF band, utilizing Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference, delivering rock-solid RF signal stability without audio artifacts. In Standard mode you can run up to 17 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a range up to 330'. Alternatively, the High-Density mode lets you run up to 47 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a maximum range of 98'. The system offers AES-256 encryption for security.
Each receiver module has its own audio and RF meters, 60 dB of gain control, and XLR output. A large LCD screen and intuitive controls let you quickly make adjustments, even in low-light situations. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning, IR sync, gain optimization to match any input source, and internal limiting to prevent clipping.
The Ethernet ports also allow multiple receivers to be easily networked together for simplified frequency coordination and deployment via Shure's Wireless Workbench software. In addition, the Channels Mobile App enables you to control the system remotely from an iOS device.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is this compatible with dsrl cameras like Sony Alfa 7a II?
A: It is compatible with Mobile Phones or Tablets only and not designed for use with DSLR cameras or camcorders.
Q: 2. Would this work if I plug it in straight into my Canon 7D? Thanks.
A: The MVL lavalier is designed specifically for smartphone use and unfortunately would not be compatible with the input on a camera or portable recorder.
Q: 3. Would this work on the 3.5mm adapter for the Gopro4 which is connected on the Gopro?
A: No - it is designed for devices offering a female 1/8 TRRS input like smartphones and tablets.
Q: 4. Will this work if connected to a Win 10 2-in-1 PC? Not sure if PCs provide the power needed to operate the mic.
A: It will not work in your computer. That is a TRRS cable made for phones. You can try turning it into a TRS with this cable B&H # ROSC3 available on our website.
Q: 5. How long is the cable from mic to plug in.
A: Mine measures 49 . FWIW, it's an excellent mic, has very, very good vocal presence and lends itself reasonably well to hiding in collars, inside shirts, etc. Just be aware that it picks up audio around the periphery of the mic head, not directly from the front (the front of the mic has no sound holes for lack of a more elegant term.)I just used this thing for the first time with an Azden Pro XD wireless setup, and it worked great - zero breath pops, no wind noise, minimal to no shirt/fabric noise when properly mounted. It's light years ahead of the mic that comes with the Azden setup.
Q: 6. Can you use this mic only with the Shure app? Will it work with a video recording app to have synced audio and video?
A: This will work with any app that records audio. That includes apps that record video. This will defeat the mobile devices built-on microphone.
Q: 7. is this compatible with the VIXIA HF R50?
A: Not sure, but I tested my MVL with my Vixia HFM40 and it does not work.
Q: 8. How well does it work with the iPhone camera app?
A: It works very well. I have used it to shoot a number of iPhone videos, both indoors and out and it has worked very well.
Q: 9. Can we get more detailed photographs of the SC6 device shown in the product pictures? I cannot tell what the reverse side looks like.
A: I just posted a review of the product with a photo of the back (clip) part of the mic. I am not able to upload photos to this reply, so I hope this helps.
Q: 10. Is this mic compatible with the DJI Mic 2 transmitters?
A: The Shure MOTIV MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones has a TRRS connector for use with smartphones. It would not be compatible with a wireless transmitter such as the DJI Mic 2.
