A: yes its a very strong and stable unit. i love the extender releases,other than the screw type. great for the price.

Q: 8. what is the width at the base in the widest position?

A: The locking base legs are each about 5 3/4 inches. So, the full width of the base is approximately 12 inches.

Q: 9. Are spiked feet available. If so, are they easy to install. Cost?

A: Harvey, the monopod did not come with any spiked feet and it doesn't look as if any could be attached. I have only used the monopod a few times but with the feet folded up, the protruding center knob seems to work in all the situations I've encountered.

Q: 10. Is it possible to just use the feets as a small tripod? i.e. does the tripod part have it's own screew?

A: You could, but only with a small point and shoot camera, or go pro, and or light body and lens, and no wind. It is steady but if you put a top heavy weight on top, it will fall over.

It's a very strong and stable unit, well made. I would recommend this unit to other customers interested in a good momopod. I am 6'-1 and this Benro Monopod has plenty of height. 5

I was looking for a replacement monopod and did not want to spend a bunch of money. This monopod is exactly what I needed. I read some reviews that said it was heavy it does not appear to be heavy to me even after using for a 4 hour job. 5

Used it with my Canon 5D mark III with the 70-200mm and it works great. The legs are able to lock quick for adjustment and as well as the feet. The twist to tighten monopods are not as quick and if your in a rush for a shot and don't tighten the leg locks good you could miss the shot. Not with this one. I can even use my Sony A7sII and stand the monopod up with no hands. The bottom can get pretty stiff. Also it comes with a changeable spike for the bottom foot, works great on the football field. 5
