The SD-SDI to Composite Converter with Audio De-Embedding and Frame Sync is an expansion board the requires the 3RU version of the XIO-series rackmount frame. The card takes a single NTSC or PAL SD-SDI input and converts to two composite analog outputs. So the signal can pass to downstream devices without requiring a separate distribution amplifier, the SDI input is also looped back out. Along with video, this converter will also de-embed two stereo pairs (4-channels) of analog audio from the SDI stream.

A: According to Blackmagic Design, The Mini Converter SDI to HDMI has a delay of less than a single line of video, except when it needs to convert PsF to P, which will take one frame. The Analog to SDI has a four line delay.

A: Sample Rate Conversion should almost always enabled to ensure audio is embedded at the correct sample rate for television (48 kHz).

A: Hi Maria -Assuming that you want Analog audio out, leave all the DIP switches off. If you want digital audio out (AES) the switch positions are silkscreened on the unit. Just a note: Some Blackmagic mini converters use one switch for processing on or off which you'll need in the on position for the unit to work. This doesn't apply to this one (SDI to Audio) but to some of the others available in this product line.

Q: 6. Can I use a second one of these to convert audio back to analog?

A: No. This device is not a cross converter; it only converts from analog to digital.

Q: 7. Can you delay the audio to sync with the video? Looking to use without a computer. Audio from Mixer and Video from PTZ Camera. I will need to sync the audio, can this be done?

A: From working with this device, there is no way of delaying the audio source at all.. You can change the setting to where the analog audio is being set to the SDI stream. Like 1-4 or 5-8, etc Hope this helps.

Q: 8. I can make convert the video by using Blackmagic Design SDI to Audio Mini Converter but there is no sound( I mean I cant hear the voice on my tv what shall I do ?

A: Make sure you've got your dip settings correct for the type of audio, aes/ebu or analog and you're decoding the correct channels your audio is on. You should play around with your dip switch settings and try different configurations.

Q: 9. Can this be connected to Blackmagic Design MultiView 4 HD and still work properly? Or do I need a Different Product?

A: Yes this will work. You have an SDI signal you want to add audio.
