bought this along with a Manfrotto 502HD to be the core of a jib arm/monitor rig - not disappointed in the least. it takes a bit to really get the hang of perfectly adjusting the leg spreader in diff. situations, but once you do it really helps you to make this thing yours and get comfortable with quick/easy setup on awkward ground.

I have owned one of these tripods since 1991. It was originally purchased for the speed it allows in set up for a photo assignment I had. I was warned by the seller it was heavy and they are not wrong, it was not designed to be used in the way I intended to use it, which was more like a travel tripod! But it proved to be precisely what I needed. Extremely fast to set up and level, precise in adjustment via the geared centre column if needed and absolutely rock solid. Although I now have a second one, the original is still used and the only damage, apart from a few scratches it has acquired over the years, came when I broke one of the tabs a few years ago that are used for raising/lowering the tripod in a single quick action but I can manage that with just the two remaining ones anyway. It is a beast, well used and very much appreciated.

Very nice tripod. I bought this tripod for its height and flexibility. I shoot a lot of weddings and other crowded events and needed to be able to shoot high from the back with one camera, above people's heads. Now this is more of a stationary tripod, not made for running around necessarily, so if you are going to be setting up/tearing down often, I would recommend being above average strength, it's heavy, especially with my bowl adapter and 504HD head on it. I love the quick release legs (great for leveling since you can't use a ball head) and I love the smooth crank to race the camera. I bought the Hakuba PSTC 400 bag for it and it was just barely long enough with my tall head.

I'm on my second one. I shoot over 50,000 photos a year. The first one lasted over 10 years. The functions are buttery smooth and I expect this one to last a long time as well. It is heavy though. I would only recommend this for a studio.

While this is a great heavy duty tripod, the leg adjusters are similar to the older 3051 (Bogan) tripod's adjusters and while I am EXTREMELY carefull with such things, the adjustment knobs eventually end up stripping and will just turn and not TIGHTEN. I had 3 tripods like this in the past and still have the 3051. Like I said, GREAT tripod, I used mine with video and medium format Hasselblad ect camera's and except for the adjustment clamp knobs stripping, they are EXCELLENY tripods so buy one BUT!! Be careful not to over tighten them. Good luck, hope this helps

I had been eyeing this tripod for years. Finally picked one up. Heavy as lead. But it's solid. I'm about to take it around the world. Figure I'll be strong as an ox afterwards ;)
