The black, Micro Four Thirds mount Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens is a prime wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with Micro Four Thirds sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm and a broad 83° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens manual focus only? I'd be using it with a G7 and was curious if I can us AF or if it has to be MF?

A: Manual focus only. No auto focus. But frankly, I enjoyed the manual focus. It makes you think about the composition of the picture before snapped the shot. In daylight situations, you can stop it down and set the focus at about 10 feet and shoot all the pictures you want. Most will be in focus.

Q: 2. What adapter ring would I need to mount this on my a6000?

A: There are no adapters that we carry that will allow for this. The lens is EF-M mount.

Q: 3. Will this lens work with the Panasonic GH cameras (ie, GH3, GH5) or will I need to get a Fotodiox adapter?

A: This is a Micro Four Third Lens, it will go on Panasonic GH3 or GH5 Cameras, without any adapter. Please note, this is a manual lens, no auto focus no auto aperture. But it is a great wide angle lens.

Q: 4. Is the focal length 12mm or 18mm? Specs are confusing and state both under the focal length section. I have the Sony 18-135 so will this lens be wider?

A: The Samyang lens is 12mm on Sony APS-C E-mount cameras (A6000 series, NEX series, etc). Its equivalent focal length is 18mm if used on a full frame E-mount camera (Sony A7). I use this lens on both my Sony NEX-6 & NEX-7. It's very sharp. Your 18-135mm lens at 18mm is equivalent to 27mm if used on full frame camera (Sony A7). So yes, the view on Samsung 12mm lens is much wider than your 18-135. It is made specifically for APS-C cameras & not recommended to use on full frame cameras.

Q: 5. can one use it with a Canon mount

A: A Canon EF-M camera yes, a Canon EF mount, no.

Q: 6. Does anyone know of a filter holder that doesn't cause vignetting on this superwide lens?

A: Using a thinner screw in filter like the B+W XS-Pro series to prevent vignetting. Using a filter holder with an adapter can be a hit or miss situation.

Q: 7. Will this work on the Sony Nex VG20?

A: The Rokinon 12mm f/2 lens for Sony E-Mount will be compatible with the NEX-VG20, yes.

Q: 8. Can you buy an OEM replacement hood? Mine has been lost.

A: You can use Clip on or screw on lens hood. Unfortunately Rokinon does not provide this accesory as individual sale. You can only get the original lens hood by contacting the manuafcture to request parts.

Q: 9. Trying to wrap my brain around this. Will this lens work on the new pxw-fs5?

A: Yes, it should work but you should get the cine version.

Q: 10. I'm considering using this lens on a Canon M3. With the M3 set in Manual mode, and after setting the aperture and shutter speed manually, will the M3's Auto ISO function work with this lens, or must you set the ISO level manually too?

A: Yes, the Auto ISO function will work with the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 lens mounted on your Canon M3.

I just love this lens. It feels right on my xt-20 and espcially on my hand. if you want to shoot wide this is the lens, easy to use, sharp, great focus and appreture ring. i would recommend this lens for a begginer like me.

I am having more fun than expected with this new wide lens. Manual focus not much of a problem, because with a medium f-stop, most things are in focus all the time anyway. Very sharp. Looks good on the XT-20. Picture in San Francisco attached (not full resolution, just to show the perspective)

I picked the Samyang 12mm F/2.0 for my Fujifilm XT-20. I can't speak to other copies of this lens but the one I received is sharp as a tack at F/2.0. It's a great lens.
Minor negative: The focus ring is rather stiff. I'm guessing it'll break in over time. Overall, this is not a major issue. In some ways it's a plus. For instance, set this lens for a particular focus distance and it stays put.

I got into time lapses a few years ago and only recently started dedicating myself more to it. I bought a Fuji X-Pro 2 and was looking for an affordable wide angle lens. I was not disappointed by the Samyang. It is light, well built, and sharp. The rings to adjust focus and aperture feel great and are precise. I bought a UV filter for it as well as the Syrp Super Dark Variable ND Filter. The Samyang is my go-to lens for time-lapses.

Lens is sharp. Rendition is good. Manual focus takes practice but focus peaking on my X-E3 works well and it makes photography a little more fun and zen having to think about exposure settings. When shooting distant subjects, cranking to infinity is pretty simple, although the focus ring seems to take it past infinity if that makes any sense.

This lens works great for astrophotography. You can't use auto focus anyway. 12mm is 18mm on my Fujifilm XT-10 so that is still wide angle enough for the upcoming meteor shower. No coma on the stars. A great lens at a great price.

Has a very good feel, focus ring is firm but not sticky.

Focus is smooth, option to use a wide aperture where performance is pretty good (slight distortion and some heavy vignetting). Great performance overall, though the flaring is a bit unfortunate. Vignetting is noticeable at just about every aperture if you're really looking for it, but you can correct for that in post easily. Great for astrophotography as well as more traditional landscapes.

Exactly what I was looking for, a small, fast lightweight wide-angle. It's certainly sharp enough and depth of field seems deepen ought not to have to worry too much about the accuracy of my manual focus. Thankfully my Fujis have focus peaking anyway. So far I'm very happy. This lens is tough to beat at the price. The focus ring is a little rough but seems to be easing up with time.
