Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this lense work with a D3400?

A: Not sure.

Q: 2. Is it made in China or Japan?

A: China. But so are most consumer electronics. The Nikkor 200-500mm is also made in China.

Q: 3. How good is this lens for action?

A: Depends on the type of action. I have found the VC (Vibration Control) and focus to be extremely quick and accurate. The captures are sharp for hand held as long as you use a good tight shooting position. For sports action I would use a monopod. But I am very happy with my lens.

Q: 4. I have a T4i, APS-C. I understand the lens will work with my camera but my question is HOW WELL WILL IT WORK WITH IT? Anyone with personal experience? Thanks, Steve

A: I have a 70d and t4i. Works great. My canon 100-400 focuses faster but the reach of the tamron cant be beat for that price.

Q: 5. Will the LowePro 11x26 lens case hold the Tamron 150-600 with the lens hood attached?

A: yes

Q: 6. Trying to decide which telephoto lens under $1500 to buy for my canon? I have a 24-105mm lens which is a pretty good all around lens but I want something with a little more reach to hopefully take on a safari one day and an Alaska trip. Ideally I would love a canon ef 100-400 but that's a little out of my price range. Is the Tamron 150-600 the way to go?

A: Hi, I have had my Tamron 150-600 for a while now, not used it a ton but I have taken a few 1000 pics with it. Mainly sports photography (windsurfing and kitesurfing, I use a solid tripod with a Benro Gimbal mount (the kind where the camera becomes weightless and you can move it with your fingertip) it is great!. Most the pics are taken in good lighting conditions so I can really use the full potential of the zoom. I use a canon 7D with it so I get a full 840mm out of it (1,4 factor with the smaller censor). For the money it is a great lens, I have tried the old 100-400 and to be honest I use the last 200mm up to 600 more often than anything. It is quite the difference in how close I can snap pics with full details in the face from a distance far far away. For a safari trip I am sure the lens will do even better as your objects most likley will be sitting still more or less, at least compare to a windsurfer or kitesurfer who is moving across water... Have fun on your safari, and bring the 150-600 and you won't be dissapointed.

Q: 7. I bought a Canon SX50HS soon after it came out and loved the superzoom. however, quality was lacking when my better shots were printed 11 X 17 so I have upgraded to a larger sensor Nikon D5500 but need more reach for wildlife shots. I see that this and the yet to be released SIGMA 150 - 600 are both made mainly for full frame cameras and have heard reviewers saying that APS-C frame camera users may experience slow focus with moving subjects and also less quality in their pictures vs full frame camera users so I'm hesitant and could use advise as I'm new to the DSLR. I don't see any other options out there, will this lens give great, good, average or poor results when used for birds in flight on a D5500?

A: Mine works great with my full frame camera or the aps-c. The details with the full frame croping are amazing but with the other great as well

Q: 8. where can I rent this?

A: Google for lensrentals.

Q: 9. Will this lens Auto Focus for Nikon D80?

A: Don't know about a D80, but it auto focuses fine on a D750.

Q: 10. What is the minimum length of the lens (e.g. at 150mm)? I want to know what size holster I need for the camera body (D610) + lens to fit in it

A: The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens and Filter Kit for Nikon F is 10.15 in length. If you are looking for holsters that would hold the camera and lens, I would recommend either the Think Tank Photo Digital Holster 30 V2.0 (Black), B&H # THDH30, or the Manfrotto Pro-Light Access H-18 Camera Holster, B&H # MAPLAH18. The MindShift Gear Multi-Mount Holster 30 (Green and Gray), B&H # MIMMH30, would also work, but would be a slightly snug fit.

I had a G1 and replaced it with the Nikon 200-500. That was recently stolen and I decided to try a G2 because it's a little lighter. Very happy with this G2. I can tell it's lighter, the focus feels just as fast as the Nikon and it has more reach at both ends. Best of all is that the VR seems to be noticeably improved over the Nikon! I didn't expect that, but at my age I really appreciate it.

Purchased this lens for wildlife photography with my Nikon Z 7II. Unbelievably sharp and reasonably quick with auto focus. Feels very well made. Recommend without reservation for someone looking for an affordable tele-zoom.

I bought this lens as an update to the sigma 150-500, and I am happy with the update. As many have mentioned before me this lens is somewhat soft on the greater end of its zoom abilities but I don't find that to be as great of an issue as many make it out to be. Part of the issue is that even on a tripod you are guaranteed to end up with lens shake due to the length and weight, unless you have a remote shutter release and the time to let your gear completely settle before taking the photo. overall this lens is an excellent choice provided you can afford the price tag.

This large lens is very sharp, even at 600mm with a full frame sensor. It's a bit tricky to learn to use the lens because of the lens
aperture, which requires a lot of light, or a high ISO and a low shutter
speed. Highly recommended to use with a tripod for lower ISO shooting of stationary or slow-moving subjects. Highly recommended.

I had a slight front focus issue with this lens and my D850 but once I adjusted the camera it works prefect. Works great with my D7100 too

It was much bigger and heavier than I expected. What a GREAT lens. Only have for a couple of weeks now but great expectations for when I use on our coming trip.

Read a lot of different reviews for this lens, and it seemed pretty good. Rather new to photography and never owned a Tamron so was still a little hesitant. No need to be worried, it performs very well, not as heavy as expected. Won't be hesitant about Tamron again.
