Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you mount the Aktiv 10 to mitchell mount, other than the Dana Dolly?

A: Yes, using the Matthews Mitchell Mount to 100mm Bowl Adapter you can adapt the 100mm bowl adapter to the Mitchell Mount.

Q: 2. Is the maximum drag on the Aktiv8 greater than on the Aktiv6? I know there are more steps, but I want to know about the maximum drag.

A: yes, it is not just more steps, the maximum drag is also more

Q: 3. Is the Sony PMW FX9 with standard lens too heavy for this tripod leg and head setup?

A: No, the Sachtler aktiv6 Sideload Fluid Head can hold up to 17.6 lb and the Sony FX9 weighs 4.4 lb.

Q: 4. Do they sell a sachtler adapter stud aktiv head to slider for 100mm or will the 75mm version do the same thing?

A: There will be a 100 mm version, it will be launched soon. The 75 mm does not work with aktiv10.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Manfrotto Carbon Fiber Twin Leg Video Tripod Legs with Ground Spreader (100/75mm Bowl)?

A: The Sachtler aktiv10 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 7-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods ((100mm) can clamp onto any 100mm bowl tripod.

Q: 6. Is the aktiv8 head compatible with VCT style quick plates?

A: The sideload system is really great, especially with a fully rigged up camera. The "Touch&o" system requires a propriety (and expensive) plate, so I don't recommend that. I presume you could easily use this with a VCT system, as there is a flat surface on the bottom of the bowl. That said, look into the "speed swap" system that could also attach to a VCT system. I need a VCT system for my shoulder rig, so this is important to me.

Q: 7. What is the minimum (not maximum) weight required for balancing a camera on the Activ 6? Minimums are Important.

A: The minimum weight for balancing on the Sachtler aktiv6 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 3-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods (75mm) will depend on the center of gravity height. You can see the graph for that here: https://bhpho.to/3TrcJwo.

Q: 8. Is the difference between the activ10 & 10T that the 10T is easier to mount but the 10 has better counterbalance? Anything else?

A: The only difference between the Sachtler aktiv10T Touch & Go Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 7-Step Drag (100mm) and the Sachtler aktiv10 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 7-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods (100mm) is the different camera plate systems. The aktiv10T has Sachtler's Touch & Go quick release system while the aktiv 10 has a Sideload quick release system.

Q: 9. Do any non-Sachtler telescopic pan handles work with this head?

A: No, I would suggest the following pan arms for the following video head Sachtler 3470 Sachtler 3471 Sachtler Pan Handle DV 75

Q: 10. Is it possible to convert an Aktiv6 sideload to a touch and go plate?

A: The Sachtler Sandwich Touch and Go Adapter with Touch & Go Plate 16 can be attached to the plate of the Sachtler aktiv6 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 3-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods (75mm) to create a similar setup.

I recently purchased a new lens for my Toyo View Camera that had a 49mm front thread. I have a collection of 52mm filters for B&W that I wanted to use with it, so this sweet little step-up ring saved me the trouble and money of buying another set of filters.

This helps me use my 82mm filters on my smaller 67mm thread lenses.

Good item for price.

This step-up ring works well and permits purchasing one 77mm filter and using it on both a 60mm lens or smaller diameter lens with other step-down rings. You can also just use your 77 mm filter alone on a 77 mm lens. The cost of the step-up ring is far less than the cost of 77mm filters and provides more versatility. Be careful not to over-tighten the step-up ring. Avoid using graphite or other lubricants on the ring as you do not want the particles or lubricant to enter your lenses. Better to invest in a filter wrench.

I bought the Step down by mistake the first time. This enables me to use an 82mm ND filter on my smaller 77mm lens. Works great - smooth threading - great price.

I use Singh-Ray filters in my work, so I keep a few stepping rings on hand depending which camera I am using. All of my SR filters are 77mm, so this does the trick - Sensei is my preferred brand
