Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it work on Odyssey 7Q+ and Sony FS700? Or should I use another Magic Arm? Thanks.

A: Being that the Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+ and the Sony NEX-FS700R Super 35 Camcorder both have a threading that is compatible with the Manfrotto 143BKT bracket in this kit, you can use the 143N Magic Arm with them. This would be especially good to use if you are attaching the Odyssey 7Q + to the leg of your tripod with the Super Clamp or the camera to a flat or rounded surface with the same clamp.

Q: 2. I can adjust the locking handle with two allen wrenches, but how do I adjust the tension at the ball joints at the ends?

A: The ball joint tension can't be adjusted. I would recommend not placing anything over 6.61 lbs. Which is the rated payload.

Q: 3. Hi. How long is the arm end to end, not counting the connectors on each end?

A: Not counting the connectors, you're looking at about 17.25

Q: 4. Manfrotto 143 vs 244? Pros/Cons of each?

A: The Manfrotto 244N has a variable friction control, so you can essentially loosen on portion of the arm while the other remains tight. If you do not need that sort of control, the 143N would have a single locking lever that loosens all the joints equally.

Q: 5. What's the max payload this can hold? Want to mount a C300 MKII with Canon 24 -70mm

A: Since the Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm can hold up to 6.6 lbs, the Super Clamp holds 33 lbs and the BackLight Base can also hold up to 33 lbs, the Canon C300 Mark II and Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 II USM can definitely be held securely with this kit.

Q: 6. Are the two sections of arm telescoping?

A: Unfortunately, the arm sections are fixed to one length.

Q: 7. Is this clamp made entirely of metal?

A: This clamp is made of metal.

Q: 8. All my other camera supports are Arca Swiss. Can I change this out to support that plate?

A: The clamp on the Manfrotto 143RC Quick Release Magic Arm with Super Clamp Kit is attached via a 1/4 thread. An Arca Swiss style clamp that works with a 1/4 female thread should work with it.

Q: 9. Is this compatible the E-Image GH03 QR plates?

A: The plate that comes with the E-Image Quick-Release Adapter will fit the E-Image GH03 head. so you can easily go between them.

Q: 10. What's the difference between this one Noga Cine Arm DG Hold-It Arm B&H # NODG9014CA MFR # DG9014CA and this one Noga DG9038CA CineArm DG (Medium) B&H # NODG9038CA MFR # DG9038CA? They look the same!! I know one has a 3/8 instead of a 1/4 bottom. I'm using for a shogun flame..thank you guys!!

A: The DG9014 is threaded at both ends of the arm for 1/4-20 thread attachment while the DG9038CA is 1/4-20 top and 3/8-16 bottom.
