Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I presently have a Benro A1192TB0 Travel Flat II Tripod. Will this gimbal head work with it?

A: While I am not familiar with your tripod, it has the appropriate fitting on top of the ball. It should work.

Q: 2. Any fitment issues when using the RRS PG-CC quick release cradle clamp ?

A: No issue , it will fit

Q: 3. Can I use RRS bh-55 with leaver-release clamp with sidekick but without ak-100?

A: I use the Sidekick on a bh-40 head lever clamp style, with a Nikon 200-500 f5.6 and the Kirk collar which has an arca foot. Fit is secure without the adapter. If you have a lens collar that doesn’t come with a good arca foot, then the adapter would be a good choice.

Q: 4. Does the sidekick provide the same performance features of the full gimbal, specifically does it balance the load so you can let go without it changing position?

A: Yes, you can balance the load so that you can let go and the camera will hold it's position.

Q: 5. I currently have a Benro A2580F tripod with a manfrotto pan/tilt head. I shoot birds with a D7200 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens. I want to get the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Gimbal but need recommendation for a ball head. Looking for best performance-to-value ball head?

A: I use a standard size ball head and use the side kick with no problems. I have an d800e with a 290 to 50th tele and it works fine. One additional bit of kit get the long Wimberley Acra foot to be able to balance the rig

Q: 6. Will it fit the Promedia Gear Gk Jr Katana Junior Gimbal ?

A: Yes, it will fit.

Q: 7. Can I add the sidekick to a Mefoto globetrotter and if so what other items do I need to purchase to make it functional? Thanks...

A: If your lens has a lens collar or tripod mount, then yes, the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter and the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod would be compatible for your usage needs. The Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapte connects directly to the Arca-type clamp on the ball head on the top of the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. No other accessory is needed; you simply remove the quick release plate included with the tripod's ball head and conect the Wimberlay Gimbal Head Adapter. You would place the ball head at the 90° vertical shooting positon to mount the Wimberly Gimbal Head Adapter, and you would then have freedom of movement with your camera/lens combination mounted on the above tripod/gimbal head combination.

Q: 8. Can I use the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter on Gitzo GT1555t tripod with GH1382TQD Head ?

A: The Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter is compatible with the Gitzo GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod and Gitzo GH1382TQD Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head.

Q: 9. Will the Sidekick support a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sport lens (7 pounds) on a Canon 5DM3?

A: I use the sidekick with a 500mm f4 Nikon lens with a D300 body, and it handles it very well. The secret to smooth operation is to get the camera lens combination balanced so that you can easily move to recompose or track a subject. I am very happy with this product. One thing to keep in mind with a zoom lens, if the physical length of the lens changes with focusing, it can change the balance of the lens/camera combination on the sidekick. This is easily corrected by adjusting it slightly in the quick release mount.

Q: 10. I have a tripod with the Benro IB2 Triple Action Ball Head on it. Is the Wimberley Sidekick compatible with this ballhead? I will be using a Nikon D500 with a 200-500mm lens with it. Thanks for any input!

A: Yes the Wimberley will be compatible with the ball head.
