The Hoya 49mm EVO Antistatic Protector Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens.

The EVO antistatic coating on this filter helps to repel dust, as well as water, scratches, and stains, and aids in making the substrate easy to clean. The 16-layer Super Multi-Coating helps to reduce surface reflections and ghosting for maintained contrast and clarity. The optical glass filter is set within a one-piece low-profile aluminum ring, which lessens the likelihood of vignetting if used on a wide-angle lens. The ring also features front threads for attaching additional filters or lens caps.

Q: 9. Hi, are these the "super slim" frame? I have read about a couple people with sony camera lenses that have issues with the lens cap scratching the filter because of the slim/low profile design. Thanks

A: Hoya EVO Antistatic UV(0) Filters are scratch resistant. The ring is 4mm deep and has a front thread foto attach lens cap secure on top of the lens. Is very unlike for the filter to get scratch by the original lens cap of your lens because the part of the lens cap attaching in front of the filter is only about 2mm.

Q: 10. Does it fit on the Canon Len 70-200 mm F/2.8 II ?

A: It is compatible with Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens as that lens does have 77mm filter threads.

I use this to protect the lens front, and see no optical signs of it's being there.

Previously my go to filter for lens protection was the Nikon L37c. Since the Sigma ceramic filters cost to much and Hoya has been around forever and known for quality glass, I decided to buy and use the EVO filter. The EVO is just as thin as the L37c and from the images from the lenses using it are free of any negative side effects like ghosting or flare. Sunsets will be the true test. I am not sure about the antistatic attribute since there is no means for me to evaluate it. I like the EVO filter so much that I ordered two more for my Sony 23mm and 55mm (mirrorless camera) lenses.

As an everyday protection for a lens this is the best I've tried. It has no effect, that I can see, on the quality of image. With other filters I sometimes see a color shift that I don't see with this Protector.
