The gray Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity and 2.5mm Connector for Lectrosonics Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a 2.5mm connector and is wired for use with Lectrosonics wireless transmitters. A metal windscreen, holder clip, rubber mount, and plastic case are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I simply attach this to a shoe mount on the FX3 and use it?

A: Yes. The CS-M1 will work with the FX3

Q: 2. does the usb c work with the 2018 ipad pro and notability app?

A: Im my experience it does not fully work with usb c iPad. You may record audio but speakers won’t work at the same time which exclude eg video conferencing. To listen to the recorded audio you need to plug off Saraninic wireless receiver from usb c port. I would not recommend this device for iPad users.

Q: 3. What third party mics are supported? Would like to add some smaller profile mics to use with this kit.

A: Any lav that is NOT wired for Sony and has a locking 3.5mm jack will work with this system.

Q: 4. What's the impedance on the headphone connector?

A: This headset connection on this mic would be best used with a headphone around 32 ohms.

Q: 5. Does this has extreme wether proof design and RF rejection like NTG3 and Senn MKH416?

A: The Sanken is fairly robust in adverse weather, but it is not weather-proofed. Its directionality is comparable depending on the environment.

Q: 6. Will this work for the Sennheiser MKH8060 or is there a better choice for that?

A: The Rycote Standard Hole Classic Softie Wind-Screen (BH #RYS12M) is a better option for the Sennheiser MKH 8060.

Q: 7. can you mute from the transmitter?

A: Yes, the Polsen UWM-2 transmitters have a mute button.

Q: 8. Can I wire a 3.5mm end to this?

A: Yes, the CUB-01 Boundary Microphone (Beige) comes unterminated and can be terminated with a 3.5mm TRS connector.

Q: 9. Would this lavalier mic work in europe? italy?

A: The wireless systems that are sold by B&H are intended for use in North America without a license. The FCC regulations vary in different countries, so a license may be required. The A1: 470 to 516 MHz, A: 516 to 558 MHz, and G: 566 to 608 MHz frequency bands for the Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System are all able to be used in Italy, however, a license is required. As additional options for a Sennheiser wireless system that you can use in Italy without a license, you may want to consider the Sennheiser AVX-ME2 SET Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System (B&H #SEAVXME2SET4) or the Sennheiser XSW-D LAVALIER SET Digital Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System (B&H # SEWXSLSTR). The AVX system operates on the 1.9 GHz frequency band and includes a plug-in receiver which can be connected to a 3.5mm mic input using the included XLR to 3.5mm cable. The XSW-D system operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency band and can also be used with an XLR female to 3.5mm cable to connect to a 3.5mm mic input. Both systems include the Sennheiser ME 2 II Lavalier Microphone, which is the same microphone that is included with the EW 112P G4 system.

Q: 10. What frequency would you recommend for Washington DC?

A: Radio activity varies by day, but for crowded metropolitan areas the UC90 band of the Sony UWP-D27 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System is usually safest.
