Optimized for applications such as watercolor restorations, fine art reproductions, and photographic prints, this Portfolio Rag 220 Smooth Fine Art Paper from PermaJetUSA, available here as a 25-pack of A3-size sheets, is well-suited to a variety of demanding inkjet workflows. The paper itself is mould made using a 100% cotton rag base that creates a smooth matte finish that is common in digital giclee output. It also has a basis weight of 220 gsm and a thickness of 12.6 mil for a lightweight, yet durable balance. The whiteness is rated at 88.5%, producing a slightly off-white color that appears more natural and it has a neutral pH value for longevity when combined with a high fade and water resistance. Along with this, it uses optical brightening agents to hit that white point for high control that will produce colors with depth and clarity.

I ordered this paper for the architecture firm I work for. We were looking for a paper that was professional, vibrant and sharp. Many of the other matte papers that we tried lost the full color range. As a result, our work lost its 3d quality. This paper afforded us great saturation on the blacks and bold colors. 5

I love the depth of color, particularly black, and the weight of the paper. The feel of the paper always gets a comment. I'm just learning how to show-case my shots. I think printing on this paper is a step in the right direction. 5

I am using this Epson paper in various sizes. The 8.5x11 is used for either proofing before going to larger sizes or stand alone. The texture and tonality are beautiful and work well under any framing. My B&W favorite paper, with Ultra Smooth Fine Art from Epson too. 5

I use this paper to print black and white photos on an Epson Stylus Pro 2880. I order Velvet in the 17x22 size and use a rotary trimmer to cut it into 8.5x11 sheets. This gives me 100 sheets at 8.5x11 for $ rather than buying it at that size for a significant amount more. It is a great paper--for smaller prints. Despite having a noticable texture, it prints with exceptional clarity. For large prints I use Epson's Ultrasmooth, as a 13x19 sheet of it will more easily go through the rear manual feed of the 2880 whereas the Velvet seems to have a problem going through. B&H is where I get pretty much everything now--camera bodies, lenses, printers, new iMac (their price was the best available,even with an academic discount elsewhere), paper, ink, cables, etc. 5
