The Canon FD Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II from Mitakon allows Canon FD lenses to be mounted on Sony E-Mount APS-C format cameras, increasing the angle of view by 0.726x and the maximum aperture of the lens by 1 f-stop.

The four optical elements of the Lens Turbo adapter condense light from the Canon FD full frame lens and project it onto the camera's APS-C sensor allowing the sensor to capture all of the lens' transmitted light, negating the 1.5x crop factor and effectively producing full-frame coverage on non-full-frame sensors. A corresponding increase in the maximum aperture of 1 f-stop makes the lens more effective in low-light situations.

The Mark II version of the Lens Turbo features an improved design to produce sharper images. Its rectangular rear lens rests closer to the camera's sensor improving light transmission and an enhanced lens coating minimizes ghosting and flare. One extra-low dispersion (ED) lens element reduces aberrations for better delineated images. The adapter offers a sturdy metal construction and stainless steel mounts, it attaches to both camera and lens with little play and includes a front and rear protective cap. The Lens Turbo is a manual adapter offering no electronic communication between lens and camera.

The Lens Turbo adapters are compatible with APS-C sized sensors. Although they will physically fit the Sony full frame mirrorless cameras, the camera must be set to Crop Mode to fully support the speed booster's functions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this properly fit on an A7Rii or A7Riii? Will be used with a Rokinon 8mm fisheye for a full floating circle so vignetting is not a concern.

A: I bought this exact product and it came with a crack inside. I had bought it less than 30 days before, so theoretically they should trade it, but they refused to becuase I no longer had the little box it came in. So, 149 dolars down the trash. I would not trust this manufacturer and particularly this store to buy anything again.

Q: 2. I have a collection of Canon FD lenses. Will this adapter fit the Sony A6000 camera and allow me to use all of my Canon lenses with the camera? I have a Canon 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, etc, lenses.

A: Most FD glass will work with this adapter, but follow the included instruction so you don't damage the camera or lens. Some FL glass will work, it seems to be about 1 out of 3, the lever pin seems to be to long on some and the infinite setting may not be able to be reached on others. It's great on glass that will work.

Q: 3. Does anyone actually use this adapter with Canon 50mm f1.4 FD lens? On some other brands, it specifically stated it won't fit any FD lens with the rear lens protrude far outside of the lens body as it will interfere with the lens inside the adapter.

A: I've used it almost exclusively with the FD 50 f1.4 and it works great. I have the newer FD (the smaller FDn, not the S.C.C. version), so it for sure fits that version.

Q: 4. Since there is no electronic communication, does this adapter work only with Ef-mount lenses that are fully manual? Or is it possible to control the lens aperture in the camera? I don't mind that there is no auto-focus or auto-exposure; just want to know if I can still control the aperture of the lens, since a review that I read states that it is not possible. Thanks to whomever answers my question.

A: No aperture control on eos lenses, with this model

Q: 5. Will this work ok with the Fs7 Sony?

A: This model will be compatible with the Sony FS7.

Q: 6. does it has aperture control or must be done manual?

A: You will need to set the aperture manually in-camera when using the Mitakon Canon EF Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II.

Q: 7. I'm trying to get this to work with my Canon FL55 f/1.2 lens. The Zhongyi site says it will work but I can't it to connect. Am I missing something?

A: Hi. Did you check that the zhongyi adapter is for FL Canon Lenses? Canon has several mount types, and i am guessing here but, are the most poppular/new the E may be? what i mean is that my be you have a Canon Lens adapter, but just not the correct mount type. I have a Zhongyi lens adapter, but for Pentax, and the difference is that pentax has the same mount from the 70s (or even before), so i did have this problem. The other issue is that may be you can mount the lens, but what you mean is that the auto-focus is not working. In this case this will never work, because this adapter is for manual focus use only. Even if you lens has an auto focus, the adapter has no chips or electric connection so the lens and the camera can communicate. That is why i guess you have a different mount in the Canon mount.Hope helps you.

Q: 8. Hi, does this adapter compatible the FD lenses work with the Sony PXW-FS7 & Sony NEX-FS700 video camera?

A: This adapter will be compatible with the FS7 and FS700.

Q: 9. if i plan to use other mounts, especially FD mount, can i use m42-FD adapters with this? Thanks

A: While this adapter does take the Canon FD mount, there have been no tests confirming that an M42- Canon FD adapter can work on this successfully. Your results may vary.

Q: 10. Will this work on the blackmagic 4K camera?

A: If you are referring to the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, there is not a reason why it would not work. The adapter works with FD lenses that are manual.

I've been on the fence between the Metabones and Lens Turbo II for a while now before finally deciding to give the drastically cheaper LT II a try first. So far, I'm incredibly impressed with what this is doing for my GH4 and FD lenses. Sharpness and low light performance have both increased notably. The extra width is going to be incredibly helpful when running and gunning indoors. It has essentially addressed all of my qualms with the GH4 and has made the camera much more enjoyable to shoot with. For the people complaining about lack of aperture control... you're mounting your lenses incorrectly. I too thought my LT II was defective after spending an hour trying to gain aperture control. Line up the red dot on the lens with the red dot on the LT II, press the two together and then turn the lens counter clockwise all the way to the green dot on the LT II. Now turn the lens clockwise until it locks into place. Congratulations, you have aperture control! The other common complaint with the LT II seems to be flare and ghosting issues. Here's my two cents on this. This adapter is used to mount vintage lenses which are already super susceptible to flare and ghosting issues in direct sunlight. It's ridiculous to expect the addition of extra glass to somehow mitigate these issues which are inherent of the lenses being used. I've found shooting with a lens hood to clear up the majority of the issues I've had with flare or ghosting. The Lens Turbo II hasn't made matters much worse than they were before in my opinion. To summarize, this adapter works as advertised and really improves a lot of the inherent shortcomings of m43 cameras and adapting vintage glass to them. The price is right and the quality is excellent. I'm no longer interested in trying out the Metabones unit and believe I'll be sticking with my Lens Turbo II for a long time to come.

Haven't had issues. Video and images look flawless.

I'm completely satisfied with the purchase. It does exactly what it claims. One thing to note is that when you put an FD lens on this adapter, make sure to align the red dot on your lens to the red dot on the adapter and then twist it to the yellow dot and then lock the lens on by twisting back. If you don't align it to the red dot first, you will not have the ability to change the aperture. It's all in the manual but I've seen a lot of comments online where people did not do this and then they automatically assume that the adapter doesn't work. It works, it's great. I love it for video and photo. No autofocus but I knew that when I bought it.

I bought this adaptor to make my Sony Alpha 6000 a little more interesting. It is a little tricky to attach this to FD lenses, but once you get the hang of it the results are superb. I am using a 50mm f1.4 and a 15mm fisheye with the adaptor. The fisheye has a even exposure to the edges, something that surprised me. The 50mm is effectively working at f 1.0. I have no trouble focusing rapidly with focus peaking and the viewfinder is astounding to look through at night. I can see better through the camera than without it. Working shutter speeds and tack sharp images make this one of my favorite purchases to date. I also bought the Nikon F-mount version and am impresses with the optical properties of both adaptors.

The Mitakon adapter is a well constructed product. I have had a couple of months the test the adapter comparing it to a Canon T70 and a Sony A6000. The Canon lenses tested were as follows: 24mm F2.8, 50mm F3.5 Macro, 50mm F1.4, 55mm F1.2, 100mm F2.8, 200mm F2.8, and two Vivitar lenses, the 135mm F2.8, and 300mm F5.5. The focus at infinity was within a quarter of an inch before mechanical stop, except for the 50mm F1.4. It focused to infinity between the 10 and 15 foot marks on the distance scale. Light amplification; the only lens to gain a full F-stop was the 24mm F2.8, all others gained more than a half F-stop bur less then a full F-stop. Angle of View: All lenses lost between 1 and 3 degrees of angle of view, which was very good, nearly nullifying the 1.5 crop factor of the A6000. This adapter has revived all my old Canon FD mount manual focus lenses. The image quality is excellent, far less distortion then the Sony Kit lens and the CA with the old lens is gone, improving my post processing time. A good investment and I would recommend it to anyone with a collection of Canon lenses and a Sony A6000.

This device gives new life to all my old Canon FD lenses, making them work on my Sony E-mount camera. AND, not only do I get the full benefit of no-crop-factor focal length (which is to say that my 17mm lens is still a very wide angle instead effectively 26mm), I GAIN a full stop of additional light on the sensor, so it goes from being an f4 to an f2.8! Importantly, it does all this without giving up image quality. What's not to like?
