Combining three distinct effects within a single filter, the 6.6 x 6.6" IRND 1.2 Digital Diffusion/FX 1/2 Filter from Tiffen offers a 4 stop exposure reduction, attenuates infrared wavelengths, and slightly softens skin details and textured backgrounds. Intended for use with high definition video capture with CMOS and CCD sensors, this filter compensates for the extended red sensitivity of these sensor designs in order to produce cleaner, more accurate colors and also takes the over-sharpened "digital edge" off for a smoother image quality. The filter is constructed from water white optical glass for maintained clarity and measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6mm to pair well with lightweight or clip-on matte boxes.

Alleviating the need to use multiple filters at once, this filter combines three distinct effects to reduce the number of filter surfaces in use.

IRND 1.2 filter offers a 4 stop exposure reduction to permit working with longer shutter speeds or wider aperture settings than normally required.

Infrared attenuating design is proportionate to the neutral density value, and helps to ensure clean, accurate colors and true blacks.

Digital Diffusion/FX effect softens skin details and textured backgrounds for a smoother image quality.

No. 1/2 diffusion strength provides the least amount of softening, which is less than the 1 strength.

Well-suited to high definition video applications where an over-sharpened "digital look" is undesirable.

Diffusion design remains invisible when lens is stopped down for greater versatility in exposure control.

Constructed from water white optical glass for maintained image quality.

Measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6mm and is ideally suited for use with lightweight clip-on matte boxes.

Q: 1. Can this be used with the Westcott FJ 200?

A: Yes. But the following bracket is needed in order to do so. Godox S2 Speedlite Bracket for Bowens BH #GOS2 • MFR #S2 https://bhpho.to/3QGTdZV

Q: 2. Is this lens good for astro photography?

A: This lens is excellent in low light and would work well for astro shooting, however a wider focal length may be more desirable.

Q: 3. Does this lens have an aperture ring?

A: No. It does have a manual focus pull back clutch that simulates the mechanical focus of older lenses with hard stops at the end of it's focus range, no aperture ring though.

Q: 4. It works with the 46 goodlighter silver umbrella ?

A: This diffusion cover can work on the Goodlighter umbrella.

Q: 5. What is the actual size of this reflector? B&H's specifications (7.1" x 8.8") conflict with Westcott's (11' x 13.6").

A: The Westcott 45° Deep Focus Reflector with Honeycomb Grids and Diffusion is 11" x 13.6".

Q: 6. Do you think this lens would work well for basketball in a gym with mixed lighting?

A: This would be a matter of opinion and based on where you are viewing the game from, but I prefer a zoom lens since the action would be moving constantly. Instead of the Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S Lens, the following 70-180mm lens would be a better choice: https://bhpho.to/479Nq6N.

Q: 7. I asked a question - here it is again. Can this be used with any 46 umbrella, or does it have special connectors?

A: Assuming you do have a 46-inch umbrella, this diffuser should work. It attaches by fitting the ends of your umbrella's ribs through holes along the diffuser perimeter. You may want to affix gaffer tape or Velcro in a spot or two to make it extra secure.
