A: I haven't tried it on the beach but I don't think it was meant for that & it might not work so well on sand. It's fine on a flat smooth surface.

Q: 9. If you want an inbetween height, can the legs be adjusted by cutting the lower ends and putting the caps back on? Any problem with locking it closed for carrying?

I use the Comfort 45 (large) stool for nature/wildlife photography. It's easy to carry during long hikes on difficult terrain. I don't use the included bag since the stool attaches nicely to my backpack. 5

It was exactly what my husband was hoping for..he takes wildlife photos and waits for the perfect shot. This will make a waiting a lot easier. Very light weight and easy to set up, take down, and carry. 5

I bought this chair for hiking and camping, I wanted something portable, durable and lightweight and this chair fits all those requirements. I bought the 45 version since the length from the bottom of my heel to the inside of my knee when sitting down was the closest fit. That's a good rule to see if you'll be comfortable when using this product. I was a bit hesitant to buy this chair given the price point but when I read the reviews on this site, Amazon and a handful of individual review sites and forums I was convinced this was the ultimate travel chair. Since it has no backrest, I don't suspect you'll use it as the ultimate lounging camping chair at a camp site--there are plenty of other chairs that may suit your needs but for mine, it works great. I highly recommend this product as long as you understand what it's capable of and what it's not. Just make sure to do your homework before investing. 5

My hobby is landscape photography, and sometimes I have to wait for the right photo. This stool provides me with a sturdy, comfortable and dry place to sit. I was skeptical at first about it's sturdiness, but it proved me wrong. This is a great stool and I highly recommend it to everyone. 5
