Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the flat plate on top of the glidecam be removed and just put the quick release plate on?

A: No the flat plate on top is also the front to back and side to side adjustment. The quick release that was promoted for this item is a very poor design. Difficult to release because of the quick release location.

Q: 2. Does this product have PPPoE?The setup I am looking at has PPPoE to a 3G access point that has an ext antenna and is connected via an injected POE adapter. Its currently connected to a cheap Netcomm (using PPPoE)

A: This router does support PPPoE. However it does not supply POE power.

Q: 3. I am searching for stabilizer for my canon 5d mark iii with 24-70mm for filming... don't know which is best because of the weight, xr 2000 or hd 2000?

A: HD is the up-to-date version. The fact is, if you are flying a Glidecam, you are not going to be operating your zoom or focus ring while doing so. Both hands on the Glidecam. Set it and forget it. Add a filter, adjust your balance. Forget to take the lens cap before balancing? Set your balance with a quick twist of the knob. Change lenses? Set your balance. Add a VidMic Pro? ....... Windy day? Add more weight plates to the base and....

Q: 4. Could I use HD2000 with a rebel T3i and a 18-55 lens? Is HD2000 made for heavier camera and it wouldn't work for such light kit?

A: Yes! I use a a6300 on it that is lot lighter and it works good!

Q: 5. Is their a warranty on this item when you purchase it?

A: The Glidecam HD2000 comes with a 90 day warranty.

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of the cart when it is folded up?

A: hello! When folded up it's pretty small 13x23 inches. Great product, lightweight.

Q: 7. Will this glidecam hd2000 balance properly with a 5D Mark II? Also, the lens that I have is 24-105mm. Any help would be great!

A: This stabilizer will easily balance with the weight of a 5D mrk ii. The trick about a zoom lens, however is that the glass moves and changes the CG of the whole setup. Even though the changes are slight, you will notice a difference in the balance of the unit from 24mm to 105. You will also notice a big difference if you balance it with the lens cap on and then take it off. This is the nature of any passive stabilization system, which is why people often use prime lenses for this type of setup, or just deal with slightly less than perfect balance.

Q: 8. Can it stand up on its own?

A: Yes, but I wouldn't leave it with a camera attached. It's very tippy and would be easy to accidentally tip over and damage your equipment.

Q: 9. does the gimbal move

A: If balanced properly the sled and post should remain level and plumb regardless of the handle position.

Q: 10. how to quick release camera?

A: Buying a quick release plate for your camera is a MUST. Attach the quick release plate to the stabilizer, and the camera to the quick release plate. I chose a plate based on what was compatible with my tripod-- otherwise you'll need to switch out which defeats the purpose of a QUICK release plate.

I thought it would be difficult from reading about it before I bought it. But after a few days of fiddling with it and some instructional videos its fairly easy to start using right away and get some great cinematic shots! Of course I have room for improvement but its light weight and just an overall great product for the price!

This is a precision piece of gear. It requires balancing and tinkering to get it to work right. I'm still working on it...

I love my Glidecam HD 2000. This product allows me to get cinematic looking shots that compare to hollywood dolly shots and increases my production value. This is an inexpensive piece of gear when compared to the amount it quickly increases the quality of your videos. Whether you are shooting videos for weddings or you are the independent filmmaker, this is a no brainer. The Glidecam is easily portable and is taken apart without much hassle. It is also made of high quality materials that is sure to stand the test of time. It is also worth mentioning that this is much easier to use than some of the more expensive alternatives (Steadicam). While other products produce very fine results, they can be much more difficult to master. The Glidecam provides great results with a less difficult learning curve.I would recommend this to any filmmakers who want to get dynamic shots without putting a huge dent in the 'ol bank account.

Takes time to get used to it. If you're using the 7D, i found that if you add 3 weights to each side you will get rid of the uncontrollable micro wobble.

It took me only 15 minutes to balance and I was already shooting flawless footage. It all comes down if you have a little bit of muscle and I steady hand. It took my footage from using 5 different pieces of equipment to using just this work of art. Balancing is cakewalk, just watch a couple videos on you tube. I use canon mark ii and 24mm.

The HD2000 is superb: Glidecam has improved the HD version over the Pro by adding threaded adjustment knobs to maintain proper balance - a huge improvement because the Pro required re-balancing every time the release plate was removed. Yikes! My product came missing a screw. No problem, Glidecam's support picked up on the first ring and the screw is now on its way - the next day! A common comment is the price of the Glidecam; however, considering the price these are selling used, well-respected names like Glidecam will hold their value with proper care. Consider it an investment. I use a 5D MkIII with 24-105L IS lens and a Rode VideoMic Pro. Balance is good, and unless one is using a full DSLR rig, the HD2000 will do great. In fact, I am on the light side of the HD2000's weight range. The HD Glidecam series is set apart from other cheaper stabilizers I have used because of its fine adjustment knobs, professional appearance, and ease of use. Considering the resale value of this, the price is more investment than anything else. P.S. Don't forget to take the lens cap off before you balance! It changes everything :)
