This 82mm SLR Magic Self-Locking Variable ND Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter that is designed to mount onto lenses with 82mm front filter threads and provides an exposure reduction of 1.3 to 6 stops. The 0.4 to 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is visually demarcated with numbers representing different density values and includes a rotation lever to further enable fast and precise positioning of the front ring. Once the front ring is rotated into a position that corresponds to the desired amount of density, the filter's rear ring can then be turned to lock the front ring into place, helping to ensure consistent exposures.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity. It is multi-coated to prevent internal ghosting as well as reflections.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.

0.4 to 1.8 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Providing a reduction of 1.3 to 6 stops, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Offers increased flexibility to use specific ISO settings or ISO films under bright ambient light.

Provides increased exposure flexibility while using cinema or video cameras within a designated film frame rate.

Multi-coated, optical glass for clarity and color fidelity as well as the prevention of internal ghosting and reflections.

Side lever allows the filter glass to be easily rotated.

Integrated exposure locking ring prevents accidental rotation of filter glass and changes to corresponding density values.

Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How much will be close focus in centimeters, if i will use it with SLR Magic Anamorphot-50 1.33x ?

A: This will allow you to focus as close as 1.8 feet away, which comes out to around 55 centimeters.

Q: 2. Does this -SLR Magic 8mm f/4 Lens- works on Fuji XT1 camera?

A: The SLR Magic 8mm f/4 Lens has a Micro 4/3 mount, so it cannot fit the Fuji X-T1 directly nor can it be adapted to fit.

Q: 3. Will this lens fit the Olympus EM-10 Mark ii?

A: Yes, it is made for any Micro 4/3 mount camera. As long as you can tell the camera to shoot without a lens (no electronic contacts on this lens), the camera won't have an issue.

Q: 4. Will this work with the sony FS5 with an adapter?

A: Yes, there are MFT to E mount adapters out there (I have one; VERY slim). You'll need to use Clear Zoom to crop into the usable portion of the image, as the lens barely covers an MFT sensor.

Q: 5. How does this compare to the rokinon 7.5mm. I shoot a lot of interiors and correcting the fisheye can get annoying. Is the sharpness on pair with the 7.5mm fisheye lenses? I alway shoot on a tripod and usually am at F5.6 or F8

A: The main differences between these lenses are feature-based. The SLR Magic 8mm f/4 is slightly less bright in low light and a bit longer in length versus the Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye. Also, the SLR Magic offers a larger knurled focus ring for easier use with a follow focus system.

Q: 6. As it meant for drone & stabilizers, since it is m43, will it work with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera?

A: This will be compatible with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera.

Q: 7. Does it work with lumix gh4

A: Yes, the SLR Magic 8mm f/4 Lens, B&H # SLR8M4, would be compatible for use with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 Micro Four Thirds Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, do note that this is a fullly manual lens. As such, you would have to both focus the lens manually and you can set the aperture using the aperture dial on the camera.

Q: 8. Does this work with the DJI X5S? Any suggestions which balancing ring is required to work with DJI X5S?

A: May need to add another 52mm weight to balance

Q: 9. This lens will work with a Lumix G7?

A: It will work but it should be used as a lens for video.

Q: 10. How do I put on a 52mm filter? I can't figure out how to remove the glass on the adapter.

A: To use a 52mm filter with the SLR Magic 8mm f/4 Lens, screw the filter adapter into the front of the lens--the front of the filter adapter has a 52mm filter thread.
