Combining their proprietary High Transmission (HT) optical system with large objectives in their 10x54 Victory HT Binoculars, ZEISS delivers an optic with outstanding performance, especially in low-light conditions. The HT system enables better than 95% light transmission from the objectives to the user's eyes by employing extra-low dispersion SCHOTT fluoride (FL) glass elements multi-coated with ZEISS' T* coatings to maximize light transmission through the entire optical path. An Abbe-Koenig prism design complements the FL glass and T* coatings, resulting in an image that is exceptionally bright and rich with contrast, clarity, and detail from dawn to dusk. The moderate magnification and large objectives produce a comfortably wide 5.4mm exit pupil that ensures full coverage when the pupils become dilated in low light.

Their magnesium-alloy housing reduces the overall weight without sacrificing strength and durability, and the optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for water and fogproof performance in all weather conditions. The innovative Dual-Link bridge construction allows the bridge to be very small without sacrificing strength or stability, and the unique elongated prism configuration enables the optical tubes to be thinner than normal. These two features work together to give the binoculars a large and comfortable gripping surface and a wide interpupillary adjustment range. Because of the relatively high magnification, combined with the size of the objectives and the length of the optical tubes, hand holding these binoculars may cause fatigue, so ZEISS made them tripod mountable with an optional adapter for long-duration glassing sessions. Add in the ergonomic non-slip rubber armoring and focus wheel, and the Victory HT becomes a full-featured optic ready for all seasons.

The image quality, especially in dim light environments, is stunning. I find myself wanting to look at things through these.

These 8x25’s give a startlingly crisp image in a package sized to encourage you to take along even if just for a neighborhood walk. Had a great view yesterday of a flicker pecking out my 2nd story soffit vent screens... As you’d expect, mechanically tight and smooth, This is an item where you get what you pay for and will get a lot of use out of. I agree with others that the case is all wrong for these binocs, but not a deal-breaker. Treat yourself to these for a special occasion.

I normally use Swarovski 10x42EL Range binos, which are my favorite binos with phenomenal resolution. The downside is weight.

I'm taking an extended non-hunting trip and I wanted a bino that was light weight, yet excellent for observing nature. I did my research and ordered the Zeiss Victory Pocket.

I knew that it would not provide the same resolution as the Swarovski. I was wrong! The Zeiss image quality was right up there with the Swaro despite being a compact bino. They are so good that if it was the only bino I owned I would be perfectly satisfied.

If you are reading this review, click the BUY button. B&H had them to me, NY to Oregon in 2 days. Great service too!

Optically, this is likely the best binocular I have. Contrast and sharpness are superb. The view is very resistant to flare, both of the backlight kind (the general loss of contrast that happens when you look at things against a strong backlight, such as a bright cloudy sky), and of the sidelight one, which happens when sunlight hits the objectives of the binoculars. I detect only the smallest hint of chromatic aberration on the corners. Viewing birds and branches against a bright sky works very well.

The binoculars are very light (290g or so, less than quoted), and are very comfortable to use. The construction quality seems good. They don't come with eyecovers, though.

The case is terrible; uselessly large; do get a
Lowepro Dashpoint 20 Camera Pouch for them; it fits them very well and creates a very portable package.

This Zeiss replaced a Swarovski 8x25 that I just couldnt bond with because of the fussy double hinge design and problems with pupil alignment and blackouts (I wear glasses).  The Zeiss ergonomics are much more effortless  to use and the optics are at least the equal of those of the similar size Swarovski, at an out the door price about $100 less.  Im not knocking Swarovski as I have Swaro 8x32, 8.5x42 and 15x56 and they are superb.  Cons: The Zeiss case is worthless; I store/transport bins in foam lined Otter boxes. It is simply ridiculous that a rain guard is not included.  The supplied strap works acceptably but is not easily removable and has hard plastic parts that will rub directly on the expensive eyepiece coatings if the bins are put into an acceptable case and the folded strap put on top of the uncovered eyepieces.  The Opticron 34mm rain guard works well.  These shortcomings are distractions but the Zeiss are very, very nice.

I use this when Kayaking. Kayak always moves, so this compact one is easy to use, easy to focus.

I went into the store intending to purchase the Swarovski 8x25's but the counter salesman suggested that the Zeiss were a better bet... and he was absolutely correct.

The offset hinge is excellent and more intuitive than the double hinge that most other pocket binocs use. It also places the main focus knob at a better distance for your finger to operate.

My sole complaint is that Zeiss doesn't provide better caps for both ends and that the hardshell case is too large and utterly inappropriate for pocket binocs.
