Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is anyone familiar with the older Epson 4490 model scanner? Do you think this mount could work with that?

A: The scanner this was made for has mounting holes to secure and line it to the bed, if the holes line up it may work, focus may be a problem, good luck!

Q: 2. Does this printer support CD-DVD-Bluray Disc printing?

A: No, this does not print on CDs.

Q: 3. Does the ADF do 2-sided copying/scanning in a single pass?

A: Yes, the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5880 All-in-One Cartridge-Free Supertank Printer with PCL Support supports single pass, dual sided scanning via the ADF.

Q: 4. How many 35mm 6-frame strips can it hold at once ? Does the batch-scanning function work for 18 negatives or 3 strips at once, or do I have to scan each frame individually ?

A: I contacted Epson concerning your inquiry. According to Epson, when you are using fluid with the fluid mount, it requires the removal of every air bubble. This task becomes more difficult when more film is placed on the glass. Using 35mm film is not ideal as it can have a natural curl. While you may get one film strip to lay flat it will get more difficult as you add more strips. If the film is flat, you could get up to 3 strips; however, it is not recommended. When using the Fluid mount, each frame has to be manually marqueed (you have to manually select the scan area for each." As such, to summarize, it is possible, but is not ideal or recommended to scan more than one 35mm film strip at a time, and batch processing is not possible.

Q: 5. I print labels from the rear feeder. What is the type and capacity rating for the rear feeder?

A: rear feeder is 50 sheets https://epson.com/For-Work/Printers/Inkjet/EcoTank-Pro-ET-5880-All-in-One-Cartridge-Free-Supertank-Printer-with-PCL-Support/p/C11CJ28201

Q: 6. Does it print borderless prints?

A: Yes, it can print borderless prints.

Q: 7. Details state that it's for v700/750/800/850 is that just because the v600 is older, so they just left it off of the list, or will this actually not fit on a v600?

A: I do not know. But, be advised: I purchased the fluid mount about a year ago but have not used it for two reasons. (1) The scanner seems to do a good job without it, and (2) I was never able to find a suitable mounting fluid. B&H does not sell a suitable fluid (that I could find), and the instructions that came with the fluid mount don't really have any recommendations either.

Q: 8. how many panel?

A: I don't understand the question. Please resend.

Q: 9. can it be used dry? hold the film flat? calibration for height? anti-newton ring glass? how much fluid does it take? can fluid be reused? how much trouble is cleaning it after each scan?

A: Marc, I don't think you would use it dry. It is only a single piece of glass. The bottom tray with the grid is only for alignment. You need to use a scanning overlay to hold the film flat which it probably won't do if it's dry. And you would get Newton rings anyway. To hold the film flat you need to use fluid scanning. There isn't any calibration for height as there is with the regular film holders because the assembly is very precise on the scanner glass. It works well. It only takes a few drops of fluid and a small bottle goes a very long way. The fluid is easy to clean off. But the whole process is obviously more work than dry scanning. BTW, Epson does not make the fluid, the overlays or any of the other accessories. I used Scan Science materials. They have a great website with lots of information about fluid scanning and fluid scanning is all they do. You have to call them to place an order, but they are very helpful answering questions.I am very satisfied with the Epson fluid scanning. I have been able to scan up to 6400 dpi with great results. Hope that helps.

Q: 10. Can you scan from feeder

A: Yes, the Auto Document Feeder on the EcoTank Pro ET-5880 All-in-One can be used for scanning.
