Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it have friction control?

A: No, but you can slightly tighten the controls to create makeshift friction.

Q: 2. How does this do with other QR plates? I have several AS-style plates from different manufacturers and I'm concerned about compatability.

A: Works well with other brand AS plates.

Q: 3. Would this tripod hold a Canon T5i with a Tamron 60mm macro lens, aiming straight down, without toppling over?

A: The Valbon EX-Mini has a load capacity of 3.3 pounds, which will support a Canon T5i and Tamron 60mm macro lens.

Q: 4. If I wanted to point my camera straight up can this head accomplish that? Would I have to turn the camera a quick release plate around backwards?

A: I use a Manfrotto 410 geared head which has the same limited up pointing constraint. I mount my telescope, which obviously needs to point way up, on it. To get around the up pointing constraint I mount the QR plate with the telescope pointing "backwards." When I connect the telescope to the mount I am using the downward pitch as my upward pitch. Since the Benro plates are Arca-Swiss comparable there is no front or back to them. To maintain 3-way operation I would mount the plate in line with the optical axis of the camera and mount the camera to the head with the lens pointing out over the pitch handle. That is going to require reaching around the head to got to that handle which will be a little awkward, but allows control of pitch, yaw, and roll which becomes limited if the camera is mounted "sideways" as suggested by Staff.

Q: 5. Is the QR adjustable fore and aft? Is there a name for this feature?

A: The QR can be adjusted but it does not have a lot of range unfortunately.

Q: 6. Is it compatible with Peak Design plate?

A: It is but if you get this peak design plate it would work much more securely. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1372682-REG/peak_design_pl_d_2_dual_plate.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 7. Where I can find instruction to dismantle the HD3way tilthead of my A300F Benro tripod and substitute for this one?

A: These instructions apply to most tripods with removeable heads. 1) Ensure there are no set screws locking the current head down to the platform; check underneath and loosen with appropriate hex wrench or flathead. 2) Tighten the panning base on the tripod head and secure the center column to prevent it from twisting. 3) Grab the ballhead and rotate counterclockwise to remove the head from the mounting screw. 4) Ensure both the new head and tripod legs use the same mounting screw size (typical is 3/8"-16). 5) Rotate the new head onto the legs by twisting clockwise. Voila!

Q: 8. Would this be a suitable substitute for the Q2 ball head on a MeFoto C2350 tripod?

A: Yes, the Benro HD3A 3-Way Panhead will be a suitable substitute for the ballhead included with the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod Kit if you are interested on setting specific angles while panning and tilting on your camera.

Q: 9. How does the head mount to the tripod? Is it like a traditional head that screws on or does it clamp on similar to the Slik 450G

A: This tripod's head is fixed, and so there is no mount information since it is not interchangeable.

Q: 10. Thinking of adding this to my Titan X1. Do I need to purchase a separate battery charger for the batteries? Or does this also charge the batteries? Thanks in advance.

A: Unit is only designed to provide 100% battery power operation for Titan X1 and X2 and Arri sky panel systems.
