Q: 1. Hi, if I'm processing two rolls of 35mm films at a time, Is it better to prepare 500ml of this (125 ml fixer to 375 ml water) each time? Or to mix the whole bottle into a gallon at the beginning? In the latter case, would I pour the used content back into the gallon bottle after I'm done? Or do I discard it? Do I need to keep the gallon bottle full if I discard the used content? Thank you!

A: I only mix 1 liter at a time of TF4 as this will cover even dual processing of 120 rolls. I then pour it all back in the liter jar. I don't do quite enough film now to mix 1G at a time. TF4 is excellent on BW film. 6 min removes virtually all the magenta from Tri-X. I use it for all my BW stocks.

Q: 2. Does anyone know if these cards are suitable for fountain pen ink? I'd like to print my own picture on the outside and write greetings on the inside with my fountain pens.

A: Yes, the Inkpress Media Archival Greeting Cards 7x10" Scored (100 Sheets) can be written on with a fountain pen.

Q: 3. Which side do you print on? Crease on the printed side or fold on the printed side?

A: Inkpress Media Archival Greeting Cards are dual sided so you can print on both sides.

Q: 4. How can I test my T4 fixer to see if it is exhausted? Can I use my old test solution I used for regular fix?

A: Most cut a small piece of film and if it doesn't clear in a couple of minutes the fix is exhausted. I just throw away the working solution after going through three litres of developer (xtol) or when the solution no longer removes the magenta stain from the film. Not sure what you mean by the second question; I don't think you should mix older working solutions with fresh.

Q: 5. After manifestation in PMK and fixation and washing for 25 minutes, the Tri-x 400 film turned out to be slightly brown. This is normal?

A: Yes. Pyro developers, like PMK, produce a colored stain on the image. This can be brown or yellowish depending on the film. That stain is why people use Pyro developers; it gives smoother tonal transitions, especially in highlight tones.

Q: 6. had success printing on Canon Pro-100? if so, what settings?

A: The papers in this pck are the InkPress Duo Matte 80. I would check Inkpress website for their profile recommendations on this paper for the Canon Pro 100. Otherwise I would use the Canon Matte Paper settings.

Q: 7. How long does this last after you open it or mix it. I read that its 1 week. while others last 3 months?

A: The shelf life difference depends on whether it is from-the-store-stock solution or the mixed working solution. According to the manufacturer "The stock solution which has a shelf life of 1 year is diluted 1:3 to make the working solution. The working solution has a shelf life of 6 months."

Q: 8. I purchased these cards but cannot print them on my Epson R2000. I have talked with the Epson people and they were unable to help me. Any suggestions?

A: I use Microsoft Word, set the page size for 7 wide and 10 tall, insert photos on the front cover and save it as Card Front. I then start another Word document, type out the inside and save it as Card Inside. After adjusting my printer tray for a 7 X 10 sheet,I then print out the Card Front , flip the printed card back into the printer and print out the Inside on the opposite side of the card. Works for me

Q: 9. Is this ok for 1x (real time), say in a stand-alone CD burner component? Archival grade rated for 1 century or more?

A: We have not tested it. But it should work fine.

Q: 10. I’ve loaded the Profile for, these cards on my Epson 3800. But am still having problems.any though as to what kind of ‘paper’ to indicate on the Settings?

A: The paper is InkPress Duo-Matte 80. Use the same profile that InkPress recommends for the Duo-Matte 80.
