Q: 1. Can this mic connect directly to an iPhone? I need a bluetooth mic for interview video's I want to do on my iPhone.

A: This mic is not advertised as working with iOS devices, but if you get an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, B&H # APMLUCADP, you can connect the USB receiver to an iPhone. This is A UHF system, Bluetooth is generally not used for wireless mics's of this type, so you do have to plug a receiver into your iPhone.

Q: 2. We have 2 sets of these and would like to use each set independently. Currently if you talk on one it can hear on both. how can we set them?

A: The PKT-23 is a multi-channel transceiver. In order for 2 sets to be used independently, two of the units will have to be assigned to a different channel. Channel setting instructions are listed in the operation manual. Please see the following link: http://bit.ly/1R5W5dK

Q: 3. Can this be connected to the zoom f6?

A: Yes, the Movo Photo WMX-20-DUO 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Lavalier Microphone System can be connected to the Zoom F6 Multitrack Field Recorder.

Q: 4. how many feet away does it have reach?

A: The max reach with complete line of sight is 300', however when using it in a city the furthers distance recommended is between 100' to 150'.

Q: 5. Do this have the standard size aux jack or the big one?

A: It has the standard size aux jack

Q: 6. Can this be used to talk into during videocalls? Basically, can I use it instead of my webcam microphone to talk to people over videochat more clearly.. Will it send the audio through the computer directly?

A: Yes, this can be used with video calls on a computer. For this to work, you would need either a dedicated 1/8'' mic input on your computer, or a combined mic/headphone headset port. If you have a headset port on the computer, then you would need this adapter to allow for an audio connection from the receiver BH #STMUYHSMFF. If your computer does not have a mic in or headset port, then you would need an adapter such as this BH #AUATR2XUSB.

Q: 7. with this mic work with my Canon EOS Rebel T4I which I know is cranky and will not work with every mic?

A: It will, and that little mic/line switch in the back in the important thing. Typically you would need to attenuate a line level to mic, but with this system you don't have to, just flip the switch to Mic.

Q: 8. Is it safe to plug the receiver into an audio interface that supplies 48V phantom power?

A: Most audio interfaces that provide 48V phantom power allow for that feature to be turned off, which is what I would recommend when plugging in this system.

Q: 9. Can this mic be conected to a JBL xtreme 2 speaker?

A: The Xtreme 2 does not have an input for a microphone and was not designed to be used with a mic. The USB port is for charging only and the wired 1/8" (3.5mm) aux input is not for use with a microphone. However, you could work around these limitations and connect the mic to a computer, then use the computer's Bluetooth to send the audio output from the computer to the Xtreme 2, or use the computer's headphone output to connect to the Xtreme 2's wired 1/8" (3.5mm) aux input.

Q: 10. How far can you be from the receiver before the signal starts to drop out?

A: Every situation is different, so it is difficult to say what kind of distance you will get exactly before the RF signal begins to drop off. Given the output power of the transmitter is 10nW, you can expect clear reception within 40-75 feet in an open space, roughly.

Looked at other options, really happy I went with these.

I work at a day camp that offers year-round children's programming, and after the last of our old walkie talkies bit the dust, we were in the market for something that fit into our budget but also would last well and have good sound quality (the old ones we were using sounded like you were communicating with Mars even if you were just feet away). After much research, I decided on these, and we love them! Over the 3 months or so since we bought our first ones to try out, the sound quality has been great, and we have not had any issues with them (good battery life, reliable, none of the clips have broken--which is a record for us). Unless our experience changes, I will continue buying these.

I have 6 of the gxt1000 and now I have 6 of the new x-talker radios and have to say I like the features in the new radio. The usb charging is great, the louder volume with the hand mic and the battery charge speeds are all improved and make radio even better than before. We use them for team mountain bike rides in challenging terrain and get great range and clarity that helps keep our team safe.

We use from 15 to 20 of these radios about 8 hours each day. They hold up very well and are the most reliable of all the Midland radios that we have used over the years for our business.
In my initial review I mentioned that the battery had a short life. Well in fact, the battery is great. The problem is that the radio charges the batter very rapidly. I never timed it but it must be within an hour or so. What happens with this rapid charge the charging current is high enough to cause a high resistance spot on the battery. Because of this high resistance the radio circuit thinks that the battery is charged because it has reached the battery full charge voltage. However, this voltage consists of the battery voltage PLUS the voltage drop across the high resistance spot on the battery. As a result the battery never reaches a full charge.
If you are experiencing this problem remove the battery and look at the negative end and you will see a small spot that is a high resistance burn due to the fast charging. As a test I would wipe off this spot and the radio would charge the battery completely.
Solution: I purchased some conductive past at our local hardware store, which I applied to each end of the batter. This has eliminated the problem. I have had no undercharges since I began using this paste with all of our radios.

I bought these radios for family road trips where cell signal is somewhat unreliable. These radios provide usb charging, great range between vehicles and privacy channels that allow clear transmissions between radios without any outside interference.

I use these to speak from vehicle to vehicle in the MOAB Desert. We have not cell service so these are essential!
