Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. is negative film the same as slide film?
A: No. Negative film has an orange base and produces a negative image (highlights are dark, shadows are light). It requires scanning and conversion from a negative to a positive image as well as accounting for the orange base.Slide film, on the other hand, produces a positive image on the film and can be scanned much easier as such (the image does not need to be inverted). +Compared to slide film, negative film has more latitude, meaning that it is more flexible and is less likely to give empty shadows or highlights. It also has more dynamic range than slide film.-Conversely, negative film is also lower contrast than slide film, lower saturation, has more grain, and is less sharp.Ektar 100, in particular, is less flexible than the Kodak Portra family of negative films (160/400). It behaves more like slide film than negative film in that it is higher contrast, less flexible, sharper, and more saturated. It is still, however, a negative film. For a film with more latitude (i.e. easier to use), stick to Portra which will also have better skin tones.
Q: 2. Is it front print or back print?
A: The Kodak Universal Backlit Film (24" x 100' Roll) BH #KOUBF24100 only has one side coated which is printable. The back side is not.
Q: 3. How does this film work with flash?
A: Very good color saturation
Q: 4. Does the 5 rolls come in the Kodak box as illustrated on the website?
A: Yes, this is a 5 pack of the Kodak Pro Image 100 Color Negative Film.
Q: 5. How is this normally applied to the glass surface once the print is made? Is it common to be sandwiched between two surfaces or just applied to the outside of the surface? I assume this works well with my Epson 7900 printer.
A: Normally it would be Plexiglass but regualr glass can be used instead. It is compatible with the Epson 7900 printer. For a rigid, durable backlit display, laminate this media and mount it to Plexiglass with an optically clear mounting adhesive. A low-glare front laminate is desirable to reduce reflections in brightly lit areas. In view boxes that have PLEXIGLASS in them already, mounting is not necessary, and a thicker (10-mil) surface laminate may offer enough rigidity for the print to lay flat. For extra rigidity or for larger displays, laminate the back of the print with a laminate equally thick as the front material.
Q: 6. Is this item glossy or matte?
A: matte
Q: 7. which is the expiration date?
A: B&H buys and sells film in bulk. In general we regularly maintain fresh film stock. All of our film is at least 6 months from expiration (typically much longer). Anytime film stock is less than 6 months from expiration we sell it in a separate section and label it as short-dated film and also price it with a slight discount (again due to the volumes we sell this rarely occurs). Unfortunately we do not have access to our inventory to hand inspect the expiration date of any of our films prior to purchase.
Q: 8. If this film is NAFTA Qualified, do you complete the paperwork for shipping to Canada?
A: Yes, B&H does all the paperwork.
Q: 9. Hello will this work on my nikon f100?
A: Yes it is compatible with any 35mm film camera.
Q: 10. Compatible with Nikon N75?
A: You can use the Kodak 135-36 35mm Ektar 100 Color Negative Film in the Nikon N75, yes.
