The gray Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Reduced Sensitivity and TA5F Connector for Audio-Technica Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a TA5F connector and is wired for use with Audio-Technica transmitters. Accessories are sold separately and are not included with this configuration of the microphone.

Q: 6. Does it come with a windscreen?

A: Yes, it comes with a foam windscreen that is effective in breezes up to about 7 mph.

Q: 7. Why does the product description say "dynamic", when it is clearly a condenser mic?

A: The product description is accurate and the ATR2100x-USB is a dynamic microphone, not a condenser microphone. The microphone's element (also called a mic capsule) which converts audio to an electronic signal is dynamic and does not require any voltage to operate. Condenser microphones do require voltage to function. What may be confusing you is the built-in USB audio interface which converts the analog signal to a digital signal and does require 5V DC which is supplied by the computer's USB port. The ATR2100x-USB offers both analog output via XLR and digital output via USB, but the actual mic element used to initially convert audio to an electronic signal, that is dynamic.
