A: Yes the bottom may curl upward, so it would need to be weighed down.

A: It is heavy. It weighs about 50 lbs. on the roll. But it is possible for an average person to lift and move it. I was able to unbox it & put it up on my background stand by myself without any assistance. This is the best background I've ever purchased. Tough, durable, easy to clean. It's worth twice the price, in my opinion. I would buy another one in a heart beat! For me ...no more paper, no more muslin. And it's thick too. Very sturdy material. Easy to move and adjust when you're laying it out.
