A: This vinyl background is rolled onto a core so it cannot be placed on its side.

A: It is taped to the cardboard tube but you will probably want clamps also.

Q: 3. When hanging freely from a rod to the floor, does it curl like seamless paper and therefore require the free end to be clamped or weighted down?

A: Yes the bottom may curl upward, so it would need to be weighed down.

A: It is heavy. It weighs about 50 lbs. on the roll. But it is possible for an average person to lift and move it. I was able to unbox it & put it up on my background stand by myself without any assistance. This is the best background I've ever purchased. Tough, durable, easy to clean. It's worth twice the price, in my opinion. I would buy another one in a heart beat! For me ...no more paper, no more muslin. And it's thick too. Very sturdy material. Easy to move and adjust when you're laying it out.

A: it's some sort of blue-ish on the other side but is one of the best backgrounds I had except for the fact that it will cause a great amount of static field.

A: The vinyl used in the Savage 5 x 12' Infinity Vinyl Background (Pure White) BH #SABGIV512W does have a slight texture. If you light it correctly it will not be visible.
