A truly fast prime offering a portrait-length perspective, this silver 50mm f/1.2 Lens from Rokinon is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras where it provides a 100mm equivalent focal length. The combination of the long perspective and bright f/1.2 maximum aperture enables extensive control over focus placement, which is further complemented by the manual focus design and rounded nine-blade diaphragm for a smooth bokeh quality. The lens construction incorporates a pair of aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortions for a cleaner, sharper image quality void of color fringing. An Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to boost contrast by suppressing lens flare and ghosting.

This 50mm f/1.2 lens is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and provides a 100mm equivalent focal length.

Bright, fast f/1.2 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also avails extensive control over shallow depth of field.

Two aspherical elements help to control chromatic and comatic aberrations in order to achieve greater sharpness and clarity.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to all lens elements in order to suppress lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy.

This manual focus lens has a non-rotating 62mm front filter mount to better enable the use of polarizing, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

Q: 8. Are these lens compatible with Olympus OMD EM10 camera?

A: I really don't see why it shouldn't be. All of the Rokinons are manual focus, non electronic, and a micro 4/3 mount is a micro 4/3 mount. Same flange to sensor distance for all. No mirror to swing and hit a protruding rear element of the lens. Etc. perhaps Dave M could explain, please.petez

Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with a Lumix G7?

A: Yes, the following lens is based on a micro four thirds unit.

I received the Rokinon MFT 85mm f/1.4 lens for my Olympus E-M1 a couple days ago and yesterday I went on a hike on one of the Portland, Oregon Boring Lava Domes called Powell Butte, which has a beautiful Pacific Northwest forest growing on its eastern flanks and an orchard growing on the summit.Boy, was it fun using a fully manual lens, for the first time since my early Nikon days (in 1967 I bought my first Nikon (an Ftn) and lens (the 200mm f/4)). On my outing on Powell Butte, I took 105 pictures of which 57 made the first cut and 38 made the final cut. Unfortunately, most of the rejects in the first cut were because they were out of focus! On too many shots, I'm not nailing the manual focus. I've got to improve my technique, whatever is wrong. I'm on a tripod, so it's not camera shake. There was more chromatic aberration with this lens than any other lens I have, maybe when I was shooting at f/1.4, which I was doing with a lot of the shots. I've removed the chromatic aberration on the included images below. But the images in focus were extremely sharp corner to corner, even at f/1.4. Hyperlink to Pbase gallery:* will notice missing f/stops and focal length in the metadata in these images. This is because this manual lens does not transmit this information to the E-M1 and so the body can't write the corresponding metadata to the images. But the in-forest images are at f/1.4 or f/2.0 and the tree skeletons (included to show corner to corner sharpness) are at f/2.8 to f/4. The sun was out and I had to avoid 1/8000 of a second in these summit shots. I was shooting at ISO 100.

This is a sharp, fast lens. My primary use thus far has been for video work. I recommend it highly for that use. The shallow depth of focus makes focusing critical however, and I've had a few shots that came out a little soft. This is user error however, and not a quality of the lens. You cannot beat this lens for value.
