The DocDerr ELRX-H from Empirical Labs is a horizontal multi-purpose tone enhancement module that houses six different sections of digitally controlled analog processing and designed for any API 500- Series enclosure. The DocDerr features a low-noise preamp capable of working with line level or instrument level signals, followed by four sections of EQ combining a two-position, high-pass filter with three parametric bands, each with its own set of carefully tuned frequency presets. An internal jumper can turn the DocDerr into an unparalleled instrument preamp with 16 dB of gain, great for acoustic guitar, bass, synths, exotic plucked instruments, and more.

The EQ is followed by a dynamics section which offers compression and a musical tape emulation circuit that softens and tames high frequencies and transient spikes. The DocDerr features the Mix knob, which allows the user to blend the uncompressed EQ's signal with the compressed and saturated signal. The DocDerr is great for tracking, fine-tuning tracks during mixing, and studio quality tone control.

Low noise line input, or instrument preamp, with compression and six digitally controlled analog sections of processing

Four sections of equalization including one high pass and three parametric bands

Complex compressor envelope generator that is fast, yet musically saturates at high gain reduction and features a program dependent release

Saturation circuitry that scrunches the highs, allows hotter levels, and uses filtering combined with germanium clip circuitry to soften loud high frequencies

Mix control to allow user to blend an uncompressed equalized signal back in with the compressed saturated signal (when on 0, only the equalized signal is put out)

DC coupled input and outputs

Selectable single ended or differential output (adds 6 dB gain)

Traditional and digitally controlled analog

Hard clip indicator lights illuminate when the sound level is within 1 dB of hard clipping and monitors many sections for internal clipping

All metal film and Roederstein resistors in the audio path

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Am using Tamron 70-200mm G2 lens with Nikon D750 and Kirk L bracket.Would I be able to use this rail to get the optimal nodal point? TIA

A: Yes, this product would allow for the optimal nodal point with your current set up.

Q: 2. What is the native ISO for this camera?

A: This camera has a base ISO of 800.

Q: 3. Can the sliding backstop be anchored in place?

A: You can tighten it down to hold it in place.

Q: 4. Does the camera write to an inserted memory card? Or, is the bandwidth of the recording stream so big that the camera must be hardwired to an external memory module to record movies?

A: With the Canon ME20F-SH, you record the video to an external recorder such as the Atomos Ninja Blade. The recording stream is not so enormous as you might think. Remember, this is a just a Super35 sensor with only a 2.26 MP's. You may be confusing the high ISO with with pixels. Even then it would be only a 4MP camera. You can compare this with Sony's a7S II which is a 12MP video camera and it records 4K internally. Note: While the ME20F-SH does have a card slot, that is only for firmware updates.

Q: 5. Can I use this on a gimbal so that a camera with short lens can be used with the gimbal?

A: Gimbal heads are generally for long telephoto lenses with a built in tripod. Using one with a shorter lens may result in the inability to balance the camera.

Q: 6. What are the main uses for this camera?

A: Astrophotography should be a lot of fun with this camera.

Q: 7. Can this rail support acra swiss clamps on both the top and bottom of the rail? Is it dual sided?

A: Yes, the Sunwayfoto DPG-210R Multi-Purpose Rail does have a double dovetail. Arca clamps can be placed on the top or the bottom.

Q: 8. I have a Burke & James 8x10 view camera built between 1900 and 1920. The bottom of the camera has two holes 4.4" apart that take 1/4 " screws. Does this device allow one to screw two screws into the base of my camera, essentially adapting my camera to fit a sturdy tripod with a mount for only one screw (as like any modern day tripods out there)? Thanks!

A: Really Right Stuff 4.4" Multi-Purpose Rail is 4.4 inches long, but the screws are not that far apart from each other. I would recommend getting a longer plate like this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1301200-REG/really_right_stuff_mpr_1_rail_multi_purpose_rail_6_152mm_with.html

Q: 9. does it take pics too ? and at what specs?

A: This camera records HD video only.

Q: 10. Does this slide length work OK with at 14mm with a Nikon 14-24 on a full frame? I want to make sure it isn't so long that it appears in the bottom of the frame.

A: Tested with a Nikon D850 with the 14-24mm f/2.8, the lens does not protrude far enough to be visible at 14mm. It's the perfect length, actually; it does stick out a hair but isn't visible in the photo.
