The WB98H/C miniature condenser microphone clamps onto the bell of wind instruments or onto the rim of percussion instruments. It features a cardioid polar pattern that helps reject unwanted noise in loud environments. The integrated gooseneck and ratcheting swivel joint allow the microphone to be easily positioned and secured, and an isolation shockmount reduces the transmission of instrument key noise and other mechanical sounds.

The durable BLX1 bodypack transmitter offers a lightweight, ergonomic design that is comfortable for the performer to wear. Group and channel selection buttons allow for quick and simple frequency matching with the receiver. Other features include an easily accessible on/off switch, adjustable gain control, and a TA4M 4-pin input jack.

The BLX4R receiver employs a microprocessor-controlled antenna diversity system to improve the quality and reliability of your wireless audio. The receiver can be rackmounted with the included hardware, allowing you to position the two removable antennas on the front of the rack for optimal signal reception.

The LCD display shows group and channel settings, and allows you to meter audio level and signal strength. An LED indicator even lets you keep an eye on the transmitter's remaining battery life. The unit offers 1/4" and XLR connectors with adjustable output level for flexible connectivity to PA systems and mixing boards.

Shure offers a variety of headset, instrument, and handheld microphone options to adapt your BLX system as your needs evolve.

  • The discrete WL185 lavalier mic provides exceptional clarity in spoken word applications.
  • The SM35 is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active performance.
  • The WA302 guitar cable lets you connect the bodypack transmitter to a guitar or bass.
  • The BLX2 handheld transmitter is available with three different mic capsules for presenters who prefer the flexibility of a handheld microphone.

Q: 1. If URX-P40 receiver is backwards compatible for use with an older UTX-B2 Is it legal or not to use in USA the old Sony UTX-B2 Transmitter because it uses the frequencies 638.125-661.875 MHz ? I've heard that using microphones in this range is noy legal anymore. Can someone clarify this?

A: The FCC recently made changes to regulations for use of the 600 MHz band within the United States. Frequencies above 616 MHz are now designated for broadband use and can no longer be used for operating wireless microphones. More details are available here: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/operation-wireless-microphones

Q: 2. Is it compatible with the old Sony UTX-B2 Transmitter? If not, Are there any modern receiver compatible with the Sony UTX-B2 Transmitter? Can these Sony devices be used with Nikon DSLR or Nikon Z cameras?

A: Yes, the URX-P40 receiver is backwards compatible for use with an older UTX-B2 transmitter as long as both components operate within the same frequency band. The receiver can be used with Nikon DSLR or Z cameras

Q: 3. can this receiver handle 2 transmitters at the same time?

A: Just one transmitter to each receiver please.

Q: 4. is there something on the device that would make it introduce hiss into the transmission? I recently bought one. Tested it with 2 identical senheiser boom mics requiring 48v phantom. One sounds great, the other has a major hiss. Tried it on several other mics (57s/58s) and nothing. The "bad" mic works 100% when wired.

A: 1. Make sure to scan for the best frequencies to use before every session. 2. Try lowering the gain

Q: 5. Is there a 3.5mm to TA3 cable to plug this into an 833 TA3 input?

A: A cable such as the Cable Techniques 3.5mm TRS to TA3F Balanced Cable (BH #CACTS2KT318) could be used to facilitate connection between the locking 3.5 mm TRS female balanced output on the Sony URX-P41D Dual-Channel Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver and the TA3 input connections on the Sound Devices 833 Multitrack Field Recorder.

Q: 6. What is the body length including the antennas?

A: The Sony URX-P40 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver has a specified height of 70mm or 2 7/8 inches without antennas. The antennas can add up to 5 inches of height, but their lengths vary depending on the frequency range chosen. Lower frequencies mean longer antennas.

Q: 7. Can this audio equipment be connected to mirrorless cameras, DSLR, cell phones?

A: Yes, audio from the Samson AirLine 77 AH7 Wireless Fitness Headset Microphone System can be sent to a camera or smartphone, however, the wireless receiver requires AC power and does not have the option of being powered with batteries, and it is not able to mount on a camera. We do have other options for wireless mic systems that have camera-mountable receivers which can be powered with batteries.

Q: 8. Can this microphone be paired with any other receivers for use in field/documentary work?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser SK-XSW-A Bodypack Transmitter that is included with the Sennheiser XSW 1-ME2 UHF Lavalier Microphone Set (A: 548 to 572 MHz) can also be used with the Sennheiser EM-XSW 2 True Diversity Receiver with External Antennas - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SEEMXSW2A) or the Sennheiser EM-XSW 1 Dual-Channel Stationary Receiver with Internal Antennas - A: 548 to 572 MHz (B&H # SEEMXSW1DU). The actual Sennheiser ME 2-II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector can be used any Sennheiser wireless transmitter that accepts a locking 3.5mm connector as well as wireless transmitters from other manufacturers that use the same type of locking connector and the same internal wiring configuration.

Q: 9. with this mic work with my Canon EOS Rebel T4I which I know is cranky and will not work with every mic?

A: It will, and that little mic/line switch in the back in the important thing. Typically you would need to attenuate a line level to mic, but with this system you don't have to, just flip the switch to Mic.

Q: 10. Can this receiver be as a IFB to monitor audio?

A: Yes, the Sony URX-P40 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver does have a 3.5mm headphone jack which can be used to monitor audio, so it could be used for an IFB application.
